legacy_specB, Those are some good questions but where heat is concern it should be getting more air hitting it in the front than at the rear plus the design was set up for a even faster spool up....

So if the guy told you that the "engine problem" is the viscosity of the oil then the problem is not the engine, it’s the oil?

A lot of ppl are using the wrong viscosity of oil in their cars be it N/A or boosted.
The problem is ppl are reading a lot of web forums and in those countries it is very cold so they would use thinner oil (30 body) in tropical countries where it is hotter we should use 40-50 body oil.

I use Royal Purple 15w 40 in my car and it works fine. I prefer 40 over 50 unless you hammer your car a lot and run it at high temp.

Use the correct oil, change all your fluids on time and you would be just fine...

HEy..new to the site and new subie owner...i think every1 i've spoken to thus far has recommended the Amsoil 10W30 for the legacy (got an 07 spec B)...i dont use the car daily and try not to run it hard in the day (since i've learnt that the temps here can cause sum serious heating issues) whats the real difference with the Amsoil 10W30 n Rpyal Purple 15W40?

royal purple i've had no personal use with but i've never heard anything good about it..

Using 10W-40 redline from BigZ!
API/SN rated as opposed to the equivalent amsoil.

Timing belt, water pump and gasket, tensioner, pulley idlers x 4,crank seal, cam seals (change if leaking only)

New coolant
