good planning there =] .... important things to know about buying any car is the cost of insurance,engine parts,suspension parts, brakes and tyres ..... especially things like tune up costs (filters and oil) ... in terms of trouble you will want to keep everything as stock as possible =] , a little muffler at the end is fine ... talk to a mechanic thats accustomed to a subaru and make a list of the regular items that would need to be changed for a tune up and after so many km's has passed (belts,hoses,plugs,timing belt,sensors,pumps =] , and price them at the motorist =] .... also drive the car 1st before you buy it... check for noise,knocks,smooth idling,balance,alignment,engine leaks,hoses and especially under the car.
