Scantool ?

Postby passing180 » April 19th, 2015, 1:32 am

Whats up everyone.

I own a 2005 BL5 Legacy GT

I am looking to buy a scan tool that can read Live Data on my car.

I currently have 6 different scanners i bought from amazon (actron and a bunch of generic brands)
None of them can read the live data

I then bought 2 different USB-OBD2 cables from scantool.net and bought the professional software for $90usd.. Same thing.. i cannot read live data

What brand/model do you guys recommend ?

Also if someone owns one that they recommend, can i pay them to test it on my car before i go out and buy a next scan tool ?

Romraider will provide you with live data. FreeSSM will also be useful.

Chances are, the OBD2 cables you already have will work with the two programs I mentioned. They are both free so it won't hurt to download them and fiddle around with the cable to see if they sync.

You should be able to log the vehicle but won't be able to flash the ECU.

Correct, I use the blue Vag Com cable and use ECU Explorer. You can view live data, clear codes but no flashing.
