Is your engine built?

What are you looking for in terms of power? A responsive setup or top end output?

21PSI on the 38 is just at the limit of that turbo. You're probably already a bit out of the efficiency range.

I would personally recommend around an 18G spec turbo. That should give you a nice balance of response and topend without pushing the stock block too hard.

I would also recommend around a 750CC Injector Upgrade. But that really depends on your tune, current IDC and the nozzle you're running on the meth kit. But 750CC will give you a good amount of headroom.

As for brand, You can check out Blouch, FP, Tomioka, Kinugawa.

I would personally recommend the FP HTA71. FP has a sale on right now and the price is very good. It has great response and excellent topend. I'm not sure if its a bolt on application for the legacy though. If not, the other manufacturers would have something for you.

I agree with what he said.
Also when you doing the turbo upgrade it's also a good idea to upgrade the downpipe. And install a wideband. Check back boost lines and redo if nessary. Secure ect.

vf38 means 5eat. Keep in mind turbo response with automatic as well as torque limit on the tranny. I have a vf37 in my 5eat legacy and maxing out stock injectors @ about 18psi,with methanol. Sometimes i get a slip on 1st to 2nd gear change. I will be doing a valvebody mod in the near future to ensure the tranny holds up to my power level.

tomioka 20g twin scroll will be a nice upgrade.

750cc injectors will be able to work nice with this...you can check DW750 injectors (side feed)

had this on mine and it wasn't laggy at all..sold it to a guy and now he is doing around 320whp with a conservative tune because his engine is not forged.

but I've seen this turbo do 400whp on ej20 with meth.
