Anyone knows if you get your warranty voided at Southern Sales if you cross the 1000 km mark? Right now I'm currently at 760 and my first appointment date is set at March 1st. I gotta call them on Monday morning to get my date moved up, but what if it isn't moved up in time and I go over by about 500km? :?

Also I had plans to change the music in the car when I got it but I'm shocked by how good the 6 speaker stock system sounds, so I doubt I'll be changing it anytime soon. I'm just a bit worried about blowing the speakers

That doesn't seem logical. What type of warranty would that be? A 1000km warranty? If there is one, it's definitely one of those "only in Trinidad" kinda things.

On a side note...Anyone here running on Koni Str.t shocks and struts? Got a set arriving on Monday and wanted to get some feedback from anyone running them.

I worded myself wrong, the first service is at 1000km, then every other 5000km.

No, it won't matter if you cross the mark, they'll still give you the service. I did my first service at around 1400km if I remember correctly.

Got the 2004-2009 model equipped with the 16" original rims and 205/55/16 Bridgestones.
My driveway is a slant and the front of the car touches if I don't angle properly.
The front touches a lot if I don't angle properly in any situation..lol

So I was wondering if to go with higher profile tyre.

Any thoughts? What size tyres you guys using?

Thanks

Has anyone ever changed the serpentine belt on their engine.
Also does anyone know if the Mazda 3 2.0 and Mazda 6 2.0 engines are the same or if parts are interchangeable.

The belt is the same on the Mazda3 2.0, NOT the 6. Try to get this part OEM.

True. It's something about the design of the 3's at the front. Not hard to touch ground at all. I'm on 225/40/18 and about 2" lower in ride height, so I should touch more than most. Happens very rarely though.

Could test fit a 205/65/16. It will look very off, but that would be almost 1" raise in height. Just make sure it doesn't touch the bottom of the spring column on the suspension. This will also throw off your speedometer readings slightly...Or maybe do some work on the driveway instead.

Hey, anyone know if I can get the wing mirrors with indicators for the new Mazda 3? I called the company twice and they put me on hold twice before I even got to ask, until I eventually got tired of waiting and hung up.

I'm curious to know if the fuel economy for the mazda 3 is reasonable, read about it online but figured it was better to get feedback from owners in trinidad. How much spent on fuel monthly, etc. What i'm looking for is a practical daily driver/ work commute with a little pep, so i settled with the M3, does the model make a difference?

I get about 10km per liter of super gasoline, no pinging. Usually cost me $110. to fill per week.

Rainman, thanks for the response. Called Southern Sales in North again and got a price finally on the front bearings @ about 800 per side after vat for OEM.

Jurawan's in Diego now has for 420 per side (generic Japanese brand most likely).

About 250 - 300 km per tank, $165 to fill up per week. If I'm in grandma mode, I could get about 400km from one tank

An oxygen sensor needs to change in our Mazda 3 and Southern Sales wants us to take out the part and bring it for them before they could sell us the part. Meaning they dont want any part number or description, they want to physically see the part (out of the car) before they sell it to us.. :?

So the mechanic need to remove it from the car.
Then we have to drive another car to Southern Sales (since the Mazda 3 would be down without said part installed) to get the replacement.

Fackin ridiculous!

 that's just plain laziness, apparently all they're there to do is change oil and filter

Tomorrow is my first paid service (5000KM service) - my father marked some filter and another part under the hood, told me he would come with me to pick up the vehicle with me, we'll see how that goes

I pay 180 to fill the tank and I get 510km, mostly highway driving. My rear o2 sensor went out I. September last. I bought the part and fixed it myself.

Did you get a CEL coming up because of this? P0420 or something like that?

How much was the sensor at SSSL?

Got the cel, used the scan tool, used a multimeter to confirm if it was the sensor....turns out that the heater circuit was shot. car was driving perfectly normal to be honest but I hate seeing warning lights. Sensor is 1390 at southern sales.

1) disconnect sensor harness from the back of the ecu in the engine bay.
2) unbolt metal cable holder (about half way on the cable length) 10mm spanner
3) use a 22 open end spanner to unbolt sensor....be veryyyy careful not to force it. Basically you don't want to break off the sensor in the bung.
4) repeat steps in reverse to install. I used a bit of loctite anti seize on it.
5) reset ecu (clear codes)

Make sure the car is cooled down before attempting. I rushed it and and got a nasty burn on my forearm.

Gracias.

Yep the car drives perfectly normal except the engine light comes on occasionally. Each time it comes on I check it and it reads the code as P0420, which is either catalyst inefficiency or a common indicator the rear sensor is gone.

Everywhere I checked online says the problem which causes this code has no effect on performance and does no damage to the car - only the emissions is affected.

May try and locate the sensor abroad and get a friend to bring it in once I can verify its faulty. You have the part # by chance? Want to make sure the US sensor is the same as our 1.6L sensor.

need a new coolant reservoir, the original has a small seam which leaks coolant when under pressure.

Got a replacement coolant tank, so one less problem.

Found out that my new tires might be creating the loud drone in front leading me to think it was bearings.

Replaced the glove box bulb last night.

As easy as removing the trim above the stereo, then two dull screws holding the glove box in.

Pull forward but keep supported.

You can then lean the glove box forward which will reveal the bulb housing.

Remove the single screw and pull towards you.

Simply pull the bulb out of the socket and install replacement 12V 1.7/2watt

Reverse process to complete.
