Mazda 3 Engine Mounts

Postby Lancer3115 » July 17th, 2008, 1:51 pm

Hey Tuners,

My Dad has to change the engine mounts in his RORO Mazda 3 1.6L. My question is would the engine mounts they are selling in the company for the 1.5L work on the RORO 1.6L.

I need an answer urgently as i want to buy the mounts this week.

Yeah. The car vibrating on start up and while driving. Not getting any knock though as is normally the case with bad mounts. The muffler system was already checked.

The mechanic said that the mounts probably have gotten stiff as the car was parked in Japan for 1 1/2 years.

When i called Mazda they asked if i had the 1.5L or the 2.0L. But you know the kinda info you get at these places is sometimes questionable.

Any advice you guys can give would be appreciated.

Umm Southern sales only brings down 1.6 and 2l engines last time i checked, most RORO places were and are bringing down the 1.5l but lately i see they are bringing down the 1.6's fully loaded.

My Dad has the 1.6L RORO with rear disc brakes.

Well i guess if the local M3's are 1.6 then the engine mounts should definitely work.

Thanks guys

Oh cool, leather seats the full works too? The 1.6l Hatchback also comes with rear disc brakes.

You might want to do a test first to narrow down which mount(s) it might be... and maybe save some money in the process.

Observe the level of vibration in park, reverse and drive... I wouldn't include startups cause I think all cars experience a little vibration while the engines is tumbling.

If everything is ok in park, shift to reverse. If the vibration starts then it's most likely the mount closest to the radiator. Likewise, if the vibration occurs in the drive gear, then the firewall mount is the culprit.

I'm no expert but it's been my experience that the radiator and firewall mounts are the cause of most vibrations linked to gear change, because they're directly affected by the twisting motion of the engine when reverse or drive gears are selected.

And as everyone has said, Southern Sales only brings 1.6 and 2.0 M3s, so they should have the mounts for your dad's car.
