Have you ever driven a Focus?... I'm assuming not becuz its one of the best handling cars period, despite its FWD platform

Also keep in mind if this nameplate is resurrected, it'll be competition for cars like VW Scirocco, Alfa Romeo Brera and Renault Megane Coupe... all sleek hatchback coupes with FWD powertrains.

In any case, I scoured the article for mention of the origin of the pics but didnt find any. Did that becuz the renderings dont look anything like Ford's current design theme. One look at the new Fiesta and Focus proves this.... the front is too Renault and the back too VW. Looks like the artist took the very same cars it'll compete with and created a poor rendition of what it'll look like

I know the Focus is a great handling car, but a FWD Capri??? jeez. that's like saying the next Silvia would be FWD or the next RX-7 would be FWD. i've no doubt this car would be nice, but they shouldn't call it a Capri!!!

interesting pic... design-wise, it looks more in keeping with the original. One thing is certain, it'll either look like the pic (if a retro look is favoured, like with the current Mustang), or it'll look like the 2011 Focus (using Ford's Kinetic design language)

As for the use of the Capri name, it might be purely economics driven. I read an article the other day regarding the Chrysler Sebring successor due out soon, which was supposed to be called Nassau. But the Sebring name will be retained because costs of launching a new nameplate run over USD$100M. Putting aside the platform, from that POV it makes sense to use back the Capri name, once the car lives up to all the aspects that made the original so popular.
