all local clear hose all collapsed with me
gas line was the best bet
catch can needs to be lower than the outlet from the engine otherwise gravity won't help it along

you dont need a clear hose, particularly if your can has a sight window.... so why the fuss?

The clear hose does have a certain aesthetic appeal (hmmm sexy big word) LOL!! that i was hoping to get, but in the end i went with a high pressure fuel hose that standing up to the engine vacuum. I got it at Advanced Hose & Marketing in arima.

Rado i wouldnt lie this thread has sparked a serios oil catch can movement.

just a query . what would happen if you condemn the two holes where the hose suppose to fit ?
see some ppl block off the intake side and put a small filter on the engine side

Performance: Remains constant, as opposed to reducing gradually as the intake manifold gets dirty, and reduces the octane level of the fuel, and all the other cool stuff that results from carbon deposits on valves and other internals.

Environment: Bad, since youre venting hydrocarbons to the atmosphere

you don't have to vent to atmosphere, just put the can between the PCV and throttle body, or breather vent and throttle body (i've seen both) ideally you may want two cans, one for PCV and one for breather; either way with some minor modifications to further reduce the likeliness of oil getting to the throttle body and increase the condensation of oil in the can, you can rest assured that oil not getting to the throttle body and it not venting to the atmosphere :)

so you could condemn it instead of putting an oil catch can ?

^^ not a good idea! Both vents serve a critical purpose that contribute to the well being of your engine. One operating by vaccum and the other to relieve any pressure buildup. Block them off to the detriment of your engine.

Think of them like arteries and veins connected to your heart!

Emptied my catch can today...

Image

85ml collected since I installed it. Definitely would not have wanted all that oil running through my combustion chambers..

How long did it take to accumulate that much oil in your can?

Install pics was on page 1.. lol

I installed it in Feb.. had checked in March and then April to see if it had collected anything, but nothing came out. When I checked it last Tuesday, that's what I found..

Motor is the J20A with 280,000kms on it. I running 15W40 Amsoil and it doesn't burn much oil. Doesn't smoke either.

^^swings some pretty good rpms too for a motor over 280 mark...

that amount of oil u collected there rene is not surprising, its a sign of the wear and tear of the rings and the block, if for the choice of a lesser grade oil and more negligible maintenance, the oil in that catch can would be more......

this is definitely one of my future things to do....

whenever I empty mine I see the good it does and as rado mentioned it lowers your requirement for higher octane as less hotspots are present since less/no oil goes in for combustion

any off you guys noticed a difference in resonance(intake) sound with a can?
mine changed when I installed.

Uprading.....

Say hello to the Diablo sport can!
Image

Twin chamber, filtered design! But of course I had to modify it a bt and add another filter element to one side. Now it has 3 filters
