wtk: vitara

Postby kriticalkase » August 24th, 2012, 10:58 pm

Guys,

I am looking at buying a local used 4 dr vitara.
YOM - 2008
Mileage: approx 60000kms.

This is my first suzuki, is there anything I ought to look out for in these vans?
What are some common problems with these?

Looking to spend no more than $150,000

thanks for any advice given.

lift up the rear door rubbers at top of door where the post for the 1/4 glass is attached, check for corrosion.Pull the door rubber(lower part)for the tailgate, again check for corrosion.
ensure the 4wheel drive(I assume is 4x4 from price and yr)works.
engine/transmission is solid in these so should not have any issue,Suspension is good too but check the front shock mounts.
Other than the above do all the normal checks, and you should be fine

I replaced disk pads already,but can't remember the price,i think $900.
But you can call LSM for prices.

ok guys.

I am getting a pck vitara (4x4) fabric interior, original condition.

mileage: 30000kms

the only problem I am seeing is that when the ac is on there is a strange noise coming from the engine. Sounds to me to be the belt, probably lost tension.

The van drove well but i noticed that the rear brakes is drum.
Question, is the vitara a full time 4 wheel drive or only when engaged?

suzuki started using drums on the 2011 models i believe, could be 2010.

4 wheel drive,which model?the 2 door i think is fulltime 4x4 like the crv.
the 4 door comes 4x2 and 4x4.
The 4x4 is fulltime like the crv then you can switch to 4H which directly couples the front and rear wheels and then there is the 4L which just gives you a lower gear.

in the current 2G series, only the 2006-2008 model came with rear drum brakes. After the first face-lift in 2009, all SGVs come with 4-wheel disc brakes.
