Who thinks this guy's punishment was too easy?
Having a car stolen causes an infinite amount of stress and frustration, and if not recovered, can seriously disrupt a person's lifestyle. After all, your car is a considerable investment!

I have a problem with my GPS alarm!!! I am not receiving any text alert messages for any interference or car location. I can no longer control my car or basically any feature associated with my cellphone. When I contacted the company I bought it from they told me nothing wrong with the alarm is the frequency; TSTT disbanded the 1800hz frequency. When I contacted TSTT they also confirmed this to be true. As a consumer what can I do to receive some kind of redress in this situation? I paid $3000. for a gps alarm, now i'm stuck with a basic alarm!

Heavy rainfalls again! Been hearing and seeing lots of images of flooding in POS and surrounding areas.
Please be very careful today and do not drive in flooded areas!

You can see photos of the flooding in real time here:

Hey, we mentioned that once the unit was under warranty, the customer should get his full refund for the cost of the system. Also, as the issue was one that could have been forseen a refund should have been given none the less to all customers with this issue. Go demand your refunds!

If you like you can also come in to GaviTrak GPS where we can check your unit for you and see if we can update it by post script as some of them may be able to work.

If however we cannot upgrade the unit for you then, after you receive your full refund from those companies, call GaviTrak GPS at 299-4GPS (4477) so we can install a proper GPS system in your vehicle :)

That is the most DUMB adivce i have heard for the year . You seem to have no idea about security.

People if you ever have the horrible experience of being car jacked , try your best to stay calm , DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REMOVE YOUR KEYS FROM THE IGNITION , listen and obey what is said to you by your assailants ,do not try to to press any panic button you will fumble at it because of the adrenaline,(if you did not practice pressing your panic button frequently you will NOT press it successfully in 10 seconds) you are not in a house, you are in a car which has plenty glass , so they can see you , you don't want to aggravate them, a car is not worth your life. After you are put out of the vehicle get to safety as quickly as possible , then make your relevant calls to whoever , if this company is reputable they should be able able to recover your vehicle regardless of a panic button being pressed or not. The carjackers would park your car somewhere to "cool off " for a couple of hours . BE SAFE people .

Red, MgMAn;

while the advice given is not dumb it is to be taken within context. All reactions must be situation dependent and what we try to do is highlight how to recognise the situations you may be in. The given advice was from the standpoint of being car jacked while approaching your car and while you have already disarmed your vehicle (indicating your vehicle to the potential car jacker - maybe this wasn't highlighted in the quick message sent before). The point here is that in this situation, you in fact need to try and face the attacker (unless he is already to close and has a gun pointed towards you) and throw the key away from you TOWARDS THE CAR JACKER (we are not assuming you pull a Keshorn throw here, just try to keep a small distance between you and the car jacker - a couple of feet is fine). The point here being to psychologically remove his focus from you and back to your car. Any person in security can tell you the reasons for that.

The advice you have given comes from the standpoint of being in the car while already started, or at least the key is in the ignition. You are right in the sense that you do not remove your keys from the ignition and you try to remain calm, this however is the same fallacy which you pointed out earlier - if you have not practised or been trained to do so, most people would not be calm in this situation and would remove their keys as a reflex. Most times people are NOT CALM in these situations and do sometimes react or worse yet freeze (when this happens in the car this is an even worse situation to be in defensively as we are not assuming the car jacker would opt to just put you out of the car!). What we tell our clients and anyone willing to listen is to again - realise the situation you are in, and refocus the attackers on the car and not on you.

Recently, we gave away a security system to a person whose brother, was calm, gave over his car with keys in ignition, but was still shot and killed. In this situation of course, being calm or not wasn't as helpful as you would think.

Whether the panic button is pressed or not we can and still do recover the vehicles. :!:

If you want a full run down on our security procedures and tentative situations and reactions, we do offer short classes to our clients (FREE OF COURSE) which we would be glad if both of you can attend to clear up any misconceptions you may have :)

And of course as you mentioned, BE SAFE PEOPLE!

To set up the attendance you can pm me and I can fit you in one of the classes.

Will this frequency change ever happen to gavitrak?
Is their some guarantee in place for a refund if this should happen?
Why is their only a 1 yr warranty on a system that sounds so perfectly good?

This can't happen unless Trinidad and Tobago mobile networks both decide to stop using GSM altogether. We used a little thing called planning and a bit of common sense when we started all those years ago :)

We do in fact offer full refunds on our systems for customers not fully satisfied with the product during the one year period.

Most electrical parts are on a one year warranty. What we can't guarantee is other people doing other electrical work on your vehicle that may compromise our systems. For e.g. we have seen persons who after leaving us went to install a deck or a turbo timer for say and came back with chopped wiring harness or even worse, burnt wires. The warranty then safeguards us more against human error on electrical installs than it does on the hardware. The system in my personal vehicle is still working perfectly after 5 years while, there are some vehicles where the unit was installed as much as 7 years ago and is still working perfectly.

So remember, if your unit stopped working because of a frequency change bmobile had in the works for some time now, then go demand your refund  :!:

dragonrex, while we do have a preferred network, either network can work with our systems.

Oh speedtrini, we're so sorry to hear of your ordeal! Hope you and your car are ok though. One thing you will never hear about GaviTrak GPS is bad customer service or negligent phone support. If you're ready to make the switch to a company that will genuinely be there for you 24/7, give us a call today!

Hi charmantpower!
Yes there will be an installation fee for the transfer, we will also need to know if the phone numbers that are programmed to the unit must be changed.
Call us at 299-4477 for the cost and to make an appointment if necessary :)
