B8 A4 maintenance costs?

Postby nemesis » June 22nd, 2010, 7:20 pm

Anyone here have a B8 doing over 20kkm? What has it cost thus far? Any known common problems with these locally?

some family has a 2011 model... 1.8T, 8 speed multitronic version. no complaints so far and car is serviced regularly.( he's now a euro convert and has consequently added a TTS to his garage.)

only issue a co-worker experienced was the side kit being too low (for the 2013 facelifted version) and some damage to the side as a result. apparently this was a common problem and ssl regularly stocks the part. otherwise no complaints for the 7 speed S tronic 1.8T

Didn't know we get 1.8T A4 with the 7 speed DSG down here. Will have to approach these new A4s with caution now

Actually.... I could be wrong. Was just going with what the owner told me and she wasn't 100% sure. But I believe its the newer 1.8T with 170HP for 2013.

EDIT: from the spec lists I've been able to find for the 1.8T 170PS, they've been paired with multitronic tranny

these cars perform well how ever like any other car if u don't service it on time as well as ignore the repair of failing parts( as the typical trinidadian), your bill will be high. Any car is costly to maintain with original parts . And for those people who think that Japanese cars are cheaper it's because they dont buy original parts but rather go in the bamboo.

all car manufactures are heading towards the new age .......which is to give new cars short lifespan parts. That's how they make their money.

Our construction company CEO has a Audi Q7 3.0 TDI with 80K KM .. all service done to date .. Should we sell it since we can now get about $300K for it and buy the 2013 when it comes out. Or keep it, that is if there are no problems heading our way. Looking for a mechanic's view.

Selling it. Before problems start and buy another new machine.

Keep them for about 3-5 years. That's before most problems start to occur

Currently have a A4 b7 going on 6 Years (I don't plan on selling any time soon) and q7 diesel(sold) just about 5 years no problems also its been cheaper to maintain either than a new navara. Just my experience.

We have a 2009/2010 B8 A4, PCM series, clocking around 41,000km on dial.

*Full 40K service + front disc pads ran us about TT$3K which was mainly the pads (found this reasonable). Did this in Jan/Feb this year.

*We also had (strangely), some busted engine mounts - parts + labour around TT$5K at SSL.

* Only other quirk was the clip that holds sun visor in place, driver side - broke off pretty easily - replaced for under TT$250.

Essentially, the latter 2 issues I understand are fairly common for the B8 as dealer confirmed that they had mounts on order for other similar era A4s and they actually stock the clip, leading me to believe it's a design-flaw.

Outside of that, no other issues observed. Next service later on this year (Nov/Dec).
