don't skip on maintenance...once ya comply it will serve you well...but try to look for a lower mileage car...and inquire about service history...tranny oil specifically

   Man say expensive to maintain yes...the internet is your friend when come to part shopping..this no different from maintaining a B13 which is 10+ years, except it will be more reliable and go greater distance between service intervals with on time maintenance,, :)

I am sorry, I'll have to say no. I heard mixed reviews about this car and it timing belt that can fail very easily and destroy ones engine. I almost bought one some years ago because they have an attractive used price, but it dodge that bullet. My brother-in-law bought one and almost had to pay someone to take it off of him

I have heard this mixed reviews you speak of...but when you inquire from the previous owner/s if the necessary maintenance was carried out...99.9% of the time is negative.

Timing belt failure has to do with the thriftiness of the owner who fail to buy OEM which is Gates or Contitech brand which last beyond 8yrs...

transmission failures are as a result of this misconception of "lifetime" filled oil...

I still maintain once you take care of it like any other care, head on block bora drivetrains are tougher and have longer service intervals...

I have seen regularly serviced B13 to Almera's (which are newer) give up at 300,000km after at least 2-3 water pump, oil pump, gasket replacements....and alternatively I have seen boras surpass 500,000km with on time timing belt and tranny oil servicing carried out...

I blame the average trini which abuse these cars then bad talk it and giving them bad names.

the internet is your friend, don't take my word for it :)

This is why ideally...you order from uk and provide your part number before purchase...who's fault is it that some folks order wrong parts?I have never received a wrong part ordering online...in trinidad?always got wrong parts in thebpast even though I orovided chassis numbers....these local part dealers need to get with the ages and computerize their stock..

This is the majority reason why I opted to go euro...
