Bluetooth/ Mobile Phone

Anyone knows where I can get the bluetooth for mobile phone installed in my B6 Passat. The car did not come with the accessory, but present is a knob on the steering with a phone symbol on it, the mic. I think is present, located up at the control switch for the hood lights.
I am sure it can be installed with the existing hardware, just where can I get it done?

do you know the sound system in your car? the current b7 and some b6's should have the rcd510.
does the headunit have a "phone" button on the right side or does it say mute? also, is there another mic button by the control for the hood lights?

btw what was the yr of manufacture of your passat?

its possible you may have to add a bluetooth module... see here

also.. talk to the guys at BA. i think i heard them once talk about having to retrofit bluetooth systems in some cars

No phone button on the headunit.
No mic button by the hood lights control.

Hmm...thought I had all the hardware, did not know all of these existed.
I will have to look into the sound system and see what numbers jump out at me.

you might need to do some checking based on your HU
theres a 9w2 and 9w7 bluetooth module

fastest way to tell may be to look up your VIN via erwin... it's VW's site that can give you a list of all the specs your car came with from factory. it will cost you about $50 TT for an hr's use to look up your car info.

check to see if you have any code described as "Preparation for telephone (all-purpose cellular phone preparation-NAR)"

depending on the HU you can always pick up one online, but you'll need do some coding via vcds to enable the mic button/bluetooth etc.

Good advice again. I believe the HU is the old RCD 300, so I will try erwin and see if is compatible in any way.

I am on a very slow internet connection atm, I'll wait till I have access to better bandwidth to check erwin.
