Volkswagen decision

Postby kmp » June 28th, 2014, 3:44 pm

Hey guys. I'm a 25 yr old female looking to purchase hee first vehicle. Now I am not I to anything fancy but at the same time I want something good and reliable that looks ok. Volkswagen is my choice. I'm seeing a 2001 passat being sold for 50k. Please give me some ideas on maintenance of a volks before my purchase etc.
Thanks

Honestly that's a bit old, pre 2010 models were plagued with problems, especially faulty transmissions.
If you have the service record, especially if it was at the firm then you better off.

there may be the one off that never saw a problem, my experience is that they are hard to come by

you can enquire, but ask about service record.

The other thing is that I find most of the older models didn't hold up so well with the climate down here w.r.t the headliner and interior plastics. That said, I suppose you will know for sure when you inspect the inside of the vehicle.

Hi,
If you did not commit yet be careful, There may be a couple of them around that may still be OK to buy, but 50K is still too much. For a 2001 you should not pay no more than 25 - 30K. If you purchase the car for 50K you will still have to spend to drive the car. It is an old car that has already lived its life so the cheaper you get it the better for you. Call me if you need further information 760-8619.

If I may hazard a suggestion, what about an a33 cefiro. Executive look and nissan reliability and I'm sure you can get one for a reasonable price if you look
