VW Post-warranty Service Options

cdx2k1 posted along similar lines but here's the question:

Considering Best Auto's increasingly long wait times for service appts, together with generally higher prices for parts and labour, what are the options for vehicle maintenance now? Warranty is up at the end of the month and BA's service dept is leaving much to be desired.

Are there any VW mechanics out there able to competently provide proper support for these vehicles? ( I have my reservations about Dole based on my experience with him at BA).

Are said mechanics stocking replacement parts? If not, can you all link sources for VW components either locally, or post links to websites that provided genuine VW or good aftermarket parts?

For those who have taken maintenance in their own hands, how are you managing? I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty, but time, space and availability of tools/jack/etc are against me.

Super Auto Limited has certified VW technicians. I go there for certain jobs, quick turnaround

They have a body shop too

Do they have parts in stock, e.g. oil/air filters etc? Genuine VW or aftermarket?

There is top gear in sando I've seen a lot of German cars being serviced there don't know about their competence

for oem parts online either ebay us or uk and ecstuning.com must have part numbers though so either get etka or check vagfans.info

Massey don't have transmission oil for my B6 or even the transmission strainer!!

Sterling have it for almost half the price, had to call them. I just can't get the transmission strainer.
Massy price ridiculous!

Sorry bout this.

Did not get to go in again.

Ended up getting my own filter from ERM and oil. Family member put me on to a mechanic who did the oil change for me.

Filter: $240 (from ERM)
Oil: about $400 (Shell synthetic 5w40)
Labour: $100

Would just like to give a heads up. Certain things such as goodwill from BA are based on service history. It may be worth your while to keep some level of servicing with them in the event that a major component goes wrong.

Save 500 per service or save 23000 ?

My issue with them is the time involved.

1 hour vs 8 hrs at BA for an oil change.

I got the oil in mine change today outside..but going on 12 April to let them change my tranny oil and do general tune up of whatever else is needee

I hope they have the transmission oil for your car, they did not have enough for my B6, 09G transmission a couple weeks ago :shock:

Best to buy ure brakes by ERM
Save tons compared to massy..plus its the identical brand
I changed mines outside.. Pretty straight forward..think my front my be due soon
