This is a mish-mash of procedures for timing belt change and a couple other things from different forums, some of which were Elantra forums and some Matrix forums.

This is pretty much how the belts run. There are three of them.


Remove the alternator belt by loosening the lower bolt, A, and then loosening the lock bolt, B. Belt size is 4PK840.




Loosen PS pump tension bolt on top of pump and remove belt (6235 v-belt)



Loosen a/c compressor tensioner by first loosening bolt A and then bolt B and then remove belt. Belt size as yet unspecified so you may need to match up the size with one from the supply shop.


Now you're putting on the belts in reverse order from the removal steps.

Replace a/c compressor belt and adjust tensioner (unfortunately I didn't see tension specifications for this)


Then, slip on the PS pump v-belt and tighten as shown.


You may need to use a bar between the bracket and the oil pump and adjust the tension.


The alternator belt is simply the reverse of the procedure outlined above. Slip on belt, tighten tensioner bolt, tighten lower bolt.
