TATT - TSTT must unlock the phone free of charge

Postby 2WNBoost » July 27th, 2012, 7:46 am

Just an FYI, regarding getting a mobile handset unlocked by TSTT
Working on it, will update when / if TSTT actually complies.

Excerpt of TATT message below:

"In accordance with Concession Condition 21, TSTT must unlock the phone free of charge once the contract is expired:

C21. Where terminal equipment which has been locked or otherwise restricted so as
to access only the concessionaire’s network or service is supplied to a user, the
concessionaire shall, upon termination of the relevant user contract in
accordance with Condition C20, and free of charge, remove such lock or
restriction. The concessionaire shall not supply (whether directly or indirectly
through agents or other retail suppliers) terminal equipment which has been so
locked or restricted to any user who has not entered into a service contract with
the concessionaire in respect of such equipment.

Does that mean that pre-paid phones cannot be locked?

that should mean prepaid phones should be unlocked because you are not entering a legally binding agreement with TSTT. I could be wrong but a little advice would help on ths matter

It sad because you gonna use a cheapo phone for more than 2 years.
Who can say that's not sad?
Only reason for this is giving your kid when you're done with it.

probably will affect those that want to use it on digi network or vice versa

Tell him nah!
Not everybody walking on silk and have a few grand to splash out everytime it have a “new” smartphone on the market. Believe it or not, there are people who still just use phones to make/receive calls and texts and have absolutely no use for any kind of berry or eye phone!

what phone do you have now? how often do you change your mobile phone/upgrade to a newer handset?

The android.
A cheap android btw, from bmobile.
Not often anymore, I settled on this.
When I say cheapo I'm talking about something like a J300 SE. Because a lot of phones form bmobile are unlocked anyway, won't YOU agree?

wouldn't know, never bought a phone from bmobile.

but i know for sure their blackberry handsets aren't unlocked. i've unlocked hundreds of them for customers

and a good bit of people asked me to unlock their bmobile xperia x10's but I didn't take on any of the jobs so I'm still not sure if the xperias came unlocked or not

i believe part of bmobile contract that you sign when getting postpaid is that your warranty is void if you unlock the phone though lol

What I meant is that by february 2013 all the early adopters of Bmobile iPhone 4s who had the 1yr contract would be now eligible for a legit unlock providing if what TTAT says is true. iPhone 5 will be out so it's a good opportunity to unlock sell and upgrade
