OFFICERS assigned to the Stolen Vehicles Squad (SVS), headed by ASP Lennard Gay, seized 28 vehicles believed to have been stolen over the past two months during several raids over the weekend.
Among the vehicles are Nissan Almeras, B11s, B14s and B15s, Subarus, 300 Z-X and Toyota Corollas.
Police are now asking members of the public, who may have been victims of robberies or theft of their vehicles, to contact the SVS office at the Port of Spain CID at 627-0729 so as to possibly identify their vehicles.
Persons are asked to walk with proper identification and documents showing ownership of the vehicles on Thursday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the SVS compound at Manga Trace in Aranjuez, San Juan.
Officers seized the vehicles during exercises conducted in Laventille, Siparia, Penal and north and east Trinidad.
The chassis numbers on most of the vehicles, police said, were tampered with by thieves.
Police arrested several suspects, including females, in relation to the stolen vehicles, which are now being housed at the SVS's compound.
Officers said their success came after months of surveillance and investigations into numerous reports of larceny of and robbery of motor vehicles.
Among those involved in the exercise were Sgts John, Gokool, including Cpls Praimdass, Joseph and Pcs Swamber, Bissoon, John Forde, Mohammed and WPC Cooper.
