The | Apple Inc. | Thread

Postby M_2NR » May 12th, 2012, 3:56 am

Honestly if you just got the iPhone and don't know about jailbreaking etc I advise you to not have a jailbreak.

iOS 5 has evolved enough for the average user i'd say. And although I have used a tethered jb for a while, it is a bit stressful knowing if you're phone cuts off, you can't make a call.
And don't even bother with semi-tether.

Good luck

Just go to youtube and look for ian559fresno's videos, see which one applies to your situation. You are making it worse by doing stuff without researching the proper procedure. It appears that you did have a tethered jailbreak, and it's most likely not factory unlocked. Therefore you'll need to reboot with Redsn0w, do not restore with iTunes unless you are sure you can jailbreak and unlock again. You don't want to have to use the ipad baseband and lose GPS now do you? You may be still lucky to have an unlockable baseband with ultrasn0w, so just leave it and take it to someone who knows what to do with it (i.e. Tiny umbrella for the baseband/kernel versions, RedSn0w the right version for your OS to jailbreak, ultrasn0w from cydia for the unlock if you need it).
You could always sell me the iphone for small money if you find it confusing lol.

The best thing is to do the research and do it yourself. That way if anything comes up later you can fix it and you'll understand the limitations of jailbreaking (e.g. you cannot update via iTunes without losing the jailbreak for instance).

It's really not as hard as it seems, and there are a lot of good guides out there that have taught me how to jb and unlock all types of iPhones (never did a 4S though).

i mean its really tough to break an iphone software wise... unless flashing baseband etc. but the best thing if he wants results right away is to check the usual guys like iDynamic. he'd have to do some nice amount of reading the position where he is at.

remember we all started with a working phone, he started at the bottom of the ocean sadly. That's why we always advise to buy a factory unlocked... virgin phone. ;)
sorry about your issues though man.

If you really really want to go digging, you could, check out iclarified, redmondpie or the likes.

it's now stuck on the pineapple aswell? ok this happened to mine when i removed siri it corrupted the filesystem at this point the on ly option you have is a restore however if your phone is not factory unlocked you must be very careful doing this as you could potentially lose your unlock

Tropi_flakes I am in the same position as you are but I did some tickling and got it up to where all the icons are back on the screen and I am getting wifi, just saying no service and searching... Working on that now, unless I get someone near enough who knows what they are doing to fix it for me. Advice anyone how can I get pass this stage.

Sounds like the iPad baseband. If you're jailbroken, go to cydia and look for ultrasn0w then install.

Well if you can't pay the $0.99, just wait a while. Ever so often it goes free. Just keep checking the "top paid" & "top free" in the app store.
The day after I bought it for my 4S, it went free.
