Deputy political leader of United National Congress, Siparia MP Kamla Persad-Bissessar, is gearing up for another battle against Finance Minister Karen Nunez-Tesheira. This new fight, however, has nothing to do with the problems surrounding the CL Financial Group. Instead, it relates to Persad-Bissessar trying to block Government’s access to $2.4 billion deposited into the Infrastructure Development Fund (IDF) last year. Speaking to reporters during Phagwa celebrations in her constituency on Mohess Road Recreation Ground yesterday, Persad-Bissessar said she planned to deliver a pre-action protocol lawyer’s letter to sue Nunez-Tesheira and Attorney General Bridget Annisette-George today.

If the legal matter is successful, Persad-Bissessar said she intended to return $2.4 billion to the Treasury. She said the money had been earmarked for spending by the Government through its “special purposeâ€
