Mileidy Materano to represent Trinidad and Tobago at Miss Grand International 2023

Mileidy Materano, a national of Venezuela, has won the title of Miss Grand International Trinidad and Tobago 2023 at the recently concluded pageant. Materano will represent the Twin Islands for the first time at Miss Grand International 2023 in Vietnam.

The victory of the Venezuelan national is significant as this is the first time in the pageant history that a contestant will represent Trinidad and Tobago in the Miss Grand International 2023 pageant.

The people of Trinidad and Tobago extended their heartfelt support and appreciation to the title winner. They believe that granted she is not a national of the Twin Islands, she would still be representing them and their people in Vietnam.



Social media user Kenrick Ali argued that at the end of the day, she was either born, raised, has blood or is a citizen of the country. If she has that much pride to want to represent our beautiful country in an international competition, we should have just as much pride to celebrate and support her.

On the other hand, some social media users also expressed their disappointment that a Venezuelan national is representing their country’s people in the international pageant.

Accordingly, social media is looking divided on the reactions to the victory of Mileidy Materano. Some people on social media have also questioned the authenticity of the qualifying pageant.

A social media user, Christopher Victor, has spoken on the issue passionately and defended the Miss Grand International Trinidad and Tobago 2023 winner. He claimed that no one should be attacking the winner Mileidy.

She didn’t do anything besides participate in this competition. All anger and frustration should be directed at the organizers. He believes that they set the wheels in motion. She still deserves our full support as she prepares for the actual battlefield.

The national pageant was held on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at MovieTowne Trinidad. The winning contestant, Mileidy, went viral during the premiere of the Barbie movie, where she was hired to play the fictional character of Barbie for MovieTowne.

During the question and answer segment, the pageant’s organizers provided a translator for Materano to facilitate communication between the judges and the contestants.
