No trini politician should ever have their name on anything trini. Leave than for folk who put us on the map.

But ent NAPA was deemed unfit for daily usage, far less as a school?

Anyway, I was there for a work thing when it still functioned as a school. Was like a scene out of Fame, yes. Sensitive, artsy types milling about, the sterotypical artsy heart playing something on an acoustic guitar and lots of dancer bodied young men doing pirouettes and jumping splits.

Only thing to rename is the south facilities. The National Academy for the Performing Arts - South Campus to Southern Academy of the Performing Arts. The southland does call it "SAPA" anyhow going years now.

Let the current batch of politicians stay dead for at least 2 decades before we name anything after them. The dust eh anywhere near settled enough yet for that.

If you REALLY want to name it after a politician.

Name it after the one who collect a bullet in his knee for this country. Talk done.

Why not name it after some one who ACTUALLY contributed their life to the performing arts?

people act as if the politicians did anything more than talk some sht and sign some docs.
It eh their money, land, labour or talent that got it done

Yeah, the practice of politicians naming crap after themselves is long gone and only done by dictatorship countries like in Africa, n Korea etc

To be fair in Trinidad politicians don't really name anything after themselves. It's other people from their party who does it usually after the politicians have passed.

Sadly, that and all would devolve into a partisan fight. Imagine if they propose Beryl McBurnie, UNC people say "she PNM" Sundar Popo? PNM say "he UNC"

Doesn't Sunar Popo have something named after him in SAPA? I may be wrong I just vaguely remember seeing his name somewhere when I drove past.
