Laptop fan won't spin past 3000rpm. It's running hot as the gpu and processors are over 80°c and the laptop itself feels hot. I'm worried to play any games as it might burn something out.

My 2011 Mac b design get hot because of the gpu card which led to damage of the board. Apple eventually recalled all the models, since then I bought one of those stands with a fan at the base and it really help with the cooling.
Kinda strange ur fans don't go beyond 3000 tho, normal running speed on my Mac is 2300 and go up to 5000

I have a cooling pad but the fan was changed recently since the original failed and it hasn't worked properly since. I've ordered the oem part from Amazon. I saw the guy had installed speeed fan on the laptop so that's how I've been watching the speeds and seeing it bit go beyond 3000rpm. It's too low to cool the laptop.

Obviously he put in a cheap fan as a replacement. These laptop "repair" places really seem to take advantage of people.

Ordered a replacement from Amazon and some artic five. Will fix it myself. Blasted quack repairmen. I also saw that the original jack had connectors for 4 wires but he cut one of the wires and only has 3 pins connected.

Stev Yeh they run kinda hot mine sits at 38-40 on idle no AC im running a swiftech h220x cooler on mine.
Read back a page you'll see the other guys helped me out with temperature issues aswell. Mine turned out to be a problem with my water block seems the 5820k needs very good cooling.

Depends on ambient temps, but if it's overclocked, then yes.
Mine sits at 43 to 47C during the day (@ 4.3 GHz).

If it's at stock clocks it should be 7 to 10C cooler at idle.

You might want to use a better TIM, or better fans on the H100.
The included ones are OK, but get a pair of the Corsair Air Series SP120s, or if you can afford it, a pair of Noctua NF-F12s. Yes, they're expensive, but totally worth it.

anyone think they would be interested in a SSD setup like this?

Image

its REALLY fast...rated at 32gbits/s( approx. 1.8 gigabytes/s) cause it uses the PCI-E lanes instead of the SATA southbridge controlled ports..

It is the Asus M.2 x4 Adapter and a Plextor 128GB PCI-E x4 SSD.
