A domestic squabble in Tobago turned tragic on Tuesday morning as a woman was chopped to death by her former lover, who then killed himself.
C News understands that Ms. Belinda Solomon-Sobers was at her home at Orchid Lane, Coral Gardens in Buccoo shortly after 8am on Tuesday when she was visited by 55 year old Daniel Benjamin.
Ms. Solomon-Sobers and Mr. Benjamin got into a heated argument and Mr. Benjamin later pulled out a cutlass and attacked her.
She was chopped several times about the body and died at the scene.
Ms. Solomon-Sobers' daughter, who was at home during the incident, was also chopped in the incident. She was taken to the Scarborough Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.
Mr. Benjamin was found dead a short distance away from the woman's home. It's believed he ingested a poisonous substance moments after the attack.
C News understands that Ms. Solomon-Sobers and Mr. Benjamin ended their relationship less than a month ago.
The incident brought the murder toll to 367.

A murder- suicide was reported in Tobago this morning. Belinda Solomon Sobers of Coral Gardens, Bucco, was chopped to death by a man with whom she ended a relationship a few weeks ago.
Her daughter, who was home at the time of the murder, was also chopped and remains in a critical condition at hospital.
The murderer, who was not identified up to news time, drank a poisonous substance and was later found in nearby bushes.
