ok wel i was headin tru st james with my dad and we saw sum fishes in the st james river and we caught 6 good size black talapias 4-7 inches and also sum babies .now home i have 5 kois 5-6 inches 2 sharks 4 inches and some gold fish 3 inches my tank i like 4 ft x2.5 ft x 3 ft i think buh its big nun d less jus wanted to know if it wud be safe to put dem in there after purgiin them out in isolation for a bit

it's called a community tank, and it can be done within reason.

cuz it looks pretty
but you need to do research to know which types of fish car compatible in a community tank....cichlids for example, are very territorial and don' always mix well, especially if they ere there first..........but you can do a very nice tank with goldfish, hillaries, tetras etc........angels are notoriously aggressive, especially if they staked their claim first..........you can mix cichlids, especially the smaller african varieties, but you can't overcrowd the tank or else you asking for trouble

btw thanks mg man...I have huge tank full of Kois but I don't like to mix,like to see one variety.but Kois are "drain" fish in certain parts of the world,only in Trinidad people take them for something big.

i mixed tilapia with kois, pacus , sharks and 2 turtles in a pond with no problems, they should be fine , once the kois are around the same size ...

I exported an 18" koi to a breeder in the US, he paid $1100US for it and i was later advised that i could have gotten more. To me it didn't seem as any special fish however they are pond fish and are intended to be seen from on to not the side and certain colourations/markings are highly desirable.

koi is big BIG business..............to the point where people inject dyes into them to affect their appearance, in order to get more money............the dyes eventually kill the fish and the buyer loses out

Them kois fugly ...... you could at least put in a couple tri-colour ones in there.

If those fish are properly fed they will outgrow that tank in no time, butttttttt keeping them in an undersize enclosure will stunt their growth.
