Bought a Samsung LED TV on amazon damaged in shipping

Postby boods1234 » December 13th, 2012, 9:50 am

So I ordered a 46 Inch TV on amazon for the black friday sales event to only getting it yesterday.
When I plugged in the TV it looks like under the screen was cracked.
It has no physical damage so I feel is some kinda manufacturer's defect.
My skybox courier telling me it gonna cost me 1500.00 to send it back to amazon.

Wondering if anyone knows of someone i can get this tv fixed and if anyone has any experience with returning goods to amazon.

Help much appreciated.

that sucks.
Hence the main reason why I'd prefer to buy a tv from a local dealer/distrubutor who can honour warranty.

The candle gonna cost ya more than the funeral, as I suspect that you'd have to pay vat and duties again, the next time it comes back in.

He shouldn't have to pay duties again if Amazon stamps a RMA number on the box. Talk with Amazon's customer service from your account to find out if this can be done.

yeah if it goes for repair, you won't have to pay duty and VAT, just make sure you do a repair form and keep a stamped copy for yourself from whoever you use to send it back

So they tell me bring it on Monday the 7th of January and pay a deposit of $400.00 to have the technician look at the tv, once they could fix it, the deposit will go towards the parts and what not for the tv..

feel i gonna take this route cuz I go end up spending more or less the same thing to get it back to the US and i will still be without a tv rather than pay some money down here and have a tv lol

^ expect a delay. Electronics going into the USA from Trinidad and this region are screened for days by the FDA to check for invasive fire ants.

At least one of the Fedex customer reps was knowledgeable after about 5 different calls.

They don't plan on giving you back the 1500 to ship it back?
They did for a busted kindle I got. I paid $250 to Fedex the kindle though.
They just credited it to my account

Amazon WILL refund the shipping costs once it's found to be a manufacturer's defect

did they ask u to crate it before it was shipped outside the US?

did you accept the risk in shipping it not crated and uninsured?

looks like a broken screen, which is more likely from a drop or impact in shipping

if its a samsung led SMART tv then it more than likely broke in shipping
those samsung screens with the thin edge tend to flex very easy and can break easily, even while removing from the box

Just got an online samsung expert to check it out, they say LCD screen broken get amazon to replace it, probably damaged during transit.

While if you're returning it for another reason, like wrong colour or you just don't want it anymore, you have to foot the shipping.
Thats what their policies state. So I think OP should just ship it back. They should give him a sheet to print and put on the box too.

He can't use that sheet if he's outside the us. You have to put that sheet in the box, and send them a copy of the shipping receipt. That's what I usually do

Could have been broken during shipping from Amazon warehouse in KY to FL or during courier transit to Trinidad. Who's going to take on the blame? Do you get insurance from your Skybox courier? Even so, they will just state the above and that Fedex Ground (or whoever was original shipper) is responsible.

different depts I guess. They sent me a sheet with barcodes and the addy. Fedex put it on the box, I paid and sent them the shipping receipt.

For stuff like this do the freight forwarders offer a service to test the electronic to ensure it is received in proper working and cosmetic order??
