ok guys, I had my 20,000kms service done @ diamond on saturday.

Service interval is 10,000kms.
Changed engine oil (amsoil) 9 quarts to be exact,
original mitsu oil filter ($210.00 at rampersad's on the bypass)
air filter was changed for the first time
diesel filter was drained, inspected and placed back in service ( I supplied an original fuel filter but they recommend that it not be changed as yet)
align vehicle

Total cost - $400.00

Total service took about 1.5hrs and they even offered a ride from DM to home after vehicle was dropped off. Overall, I was very satisfied with the service & the van works great.

KK exactly what did that consist of? Air filter and labour? What's the full cost of the 20 000 km?

Sweeks, the $400.00 consisted of oil/filter change, air filter change, suspension checks, check front and rear brakes, adjust rear brakes, alignment, general engine checks - fluid levels, belts etc.

Total cost of service: $500 - Oil
$210 - Oil filter
$250 - Air filter
$400 - Labour
TOTAL:$1360.00

Hey guys, i have a KB4 2.5T manual Sportero (2007) for about 2.5 years now... love my baby... (serviced at DM in south every 10,000 ever since)
Anyway i have these part numbers:

Oil filter: 1230A045 - $375 + VAT

Front Brake Pads: 4605A284 - $900 (i din't change the back shoes yet)

Fuel filter: 1170A053 - $560 + VAT

Wiper Blade Rubber: 8250A054 - $160

Air Filter: 1500A098.... However i got fed up payin $200+ to change it every other service so i just got a drop in K&N for US $60. And talk about change in performance

Also i use Royal Purple 20w-50... i tried mobil 1 and amsoil and red line and all dem ting... but the RP gives me best performance in terms of noise and fuel economy... i found that the mobil 1 was the worst for me... engine was soundin like a ole tractor so i never use it again...

Great info there lexx.
Can I ask you at approx what mileage you changed your front disc pads. I scared to ask the price the firm is asking for this.

Have you any regrets with respect to using the k&n?

kriticalkase, DM told me that i need to change my brake pads when i was doing about 35, 000... BUT finding that very suspicious i just told them i can't afford it a this time and that i'll be back in a week... When i got home i jacked up the van, took of the wheel and had a look myself, the pad had at least 50% life in them still... I ended up changing them 2 services down at 55, 000 and they still had life in them... The pads alone are $900+... So my advice is MAKE SURE that ur pads really need changing because this also happened to me before when i had a lancer and DM used to change the pads with lots of life still in them...

About the K&N i have no regrets... i noticed better fuel millage and a little more power on the top end... the engine breathin real nice... JUST make sure to let DM know that you installed one and put the DON"T REMOVE sticker on the Air Box because them fellas who do the service will throw away ur K&N and replace it with an OEM filter without knowing...

Ok fellaz I lie... Now going through my service records and the OEM AIR FILTER (1500A098) is not $200... I seeing that the old price (bill dating 10 Aug 2008) is $420 VAT inclusive and the NEW price (bill dating 10 feb 2009) is $529 VAT inclusive...

the dealers really know how to make money off people head. I agree with you, 35000kms for an original set of disc pads is not good.

Will take that part number and try to source it, so when my time come i can save some cash. I think you have just convinced me with getting the k&n. Sheriff (south) said they will be getting in a couple of weeks. Do you oil these filters yourself?

kriticalkase,
If you can get the original pads for less let me know, i'll take a set also...

About the k&n... mine not ready for oiling yet, however a freind of mine told me there are quite a few places than you can carry it to get serviced...i.e cleaned and oiled... I bought my k&n in miami last time i visited and the airport security made me give up the "oil spray aerosol canister" since it is "Highly Flammable"... so i am definitely going to carry it by someone to get done...

btw how much did Sheriff tell you it's going to cost??

I guess k& n is the way to go.
I was a bit concerned about the k&n's ability to trap as much dust particles as the OEM seeing that the K&N allow a higher quanity of airflow when compared to the OEM.

Thanks for the info guys, very useful. I'll open the hood and see what part numbers I can get. This is my first personal diesel so I'm a newb. Truck works like a dream though I don't think I'll ever go back to gas. Anyone but me feel that fuel additives are a scam?

I agree with you but to an extent.

Have you ever used amsoil cetane boost and concentrate. Excellent product, but use in small amounts.

I disagree, but also to a point

I have tried several fuel additivies and have found that some work bteer than some and then there are those that just plain DO NOTTIN

Amsoil and Redline work well for me

Amsoil has my engine idling quieter than just plain diesel

DM uses Total now,

they switched from Chevron after years of using Shell

Shell didn't have a suitable grade for teh new DiD engines

and from what I understand, teh Chevron was working like crap

Cool thing ... I recently read where the service intervals on the L200 is 12 500 miles. That's 20 000km.

where :?:

the guys on L200 Owners club in England don't use thos extended intervals

but it does vary from dealer to dealer

I would advise 10,000 km intervals

maybe if we had more competent dealers here I'd think otherwise

Fellas .... base on all that said above, Ramai's Auto in Vistabella (Navin) is the best place to get OEM at the best prices.

Does anyone have a contact #?
