I didn't purchase from Toyota, but that is strange that the Prerunner is more expensive than the 4x4. I purchased from M Rampersad.

TTTL's Pre-Runner includes DVD, BT, reverse camera, steering wheel controls. The 4X4 doesn't have all those features, so price is lower.

You say you don't need 4X4? Try driving on the southbound lane through Chaguanas on the right lane in the rain, then you'd see why you need the 4X4.

Some people just say they don't need the 4X4 because they merely don't want to spend the additional money. When you buying something so expensive, buy the best and done talk.

you're not supposed to drive on paved roads in 4wd even if it's raining

yeah but engaging 4x4 on the highway because it's raining? I've never had to do that with any pickup :S while we're on the topic though, do the newer hiluxes have a shift on the fly rotary styled switch or the traditional gear levers?

Traditional gear level...

I've done it on a few pickups already, especially on my other ranger....almost spun a couple times with that vehicle even at low speeds

some gear levers have a shift on the fly function as well. although i've always shifted in and out of 4wd at a stand still.

Toyota sales man said under heavy raining conditions you can engage the 4x4 but must stay under the speed range (cant rem the speed)
But yea likewise I had my van over a year and never had to engage to 4x4 on the highway

I've had 4x4 for years and never had to engage the 4wd drive. Nice but not necessary to have on regular roads. If you're into off-roading then that's an entirely different story.

Go back to that same toyota salesman... and show him this image please.

That's what happens when you engage 4x4 on a hard, high-traction surface like tarmac... even in the rain.
The drive-components of the transmission, differentials and axles undergo tremendous stress when there is high-traction, esp. when turning corners (4x4's don't like to turn corners when 4wd is engaged)... and you WILL break something.

Go back to TTTL limited please and show them this, for the sake of humanity.

 Yes sir...
Ill email the guy.... Toyota salesmen from south really dont know much about the vehicles they have... I talked to a couple of them there last week while waiting on my van from service, was just asking about this vehicle which they had in their showroom:

Image

Both salesmen went to get the Data sheet on the vehicle and when they returned empty handed and went on with another customer.

Barataria sales and service men need to come south and take over the show
