rims for hilux

Postby ray_S.T.R.A_man » December 11th, 2007, 4:06 am

I in the market for some 17rims for my hilux. Which auto shop have reasonable prices? Not looking for anything fancy. Would you guys recommend using off road tyres on a 17'rim? appreciate you comments.

If you're going off road, you better stick to the 15s and 16s. More meat (tyre) less chances of you getting your rim damaged.

What year is your lux?

Is the 4X2 double cab . the new model. i don't like how the tyres look. Not much into off roading more into transporting men and materials.

For transporting purposes, you should have more sidewall on your tire... ie, you shouldnt use too big a rim. Your stock rim should be 15" rims. I would say you can safely go up to 16s. If you werent using the hilux for transport you may be able to safely go with a larger rim.

The 4x2 hilux has 5 the wheel nuts so you'll have to make sure no one tries to sell you rims for the 4x4 (6 wheel nuts)

Good advice there.... See if you get the OEM RAV4 rims... those might fit.

The oem rav4 rims fit the 4x2 hilux perfectly. Saw them being fitted on on at mileage mack. Definitely don't go over 16 inch rims on the 4x2 if u using it commercially.

I have a roll bar from a foreign used vehicle don't know what vehicle with 4lights on it that could be used as a roll bar i will post up the pic.

I think the older models (3L, 1KZ, etc) have alot more wheel well, am I right or is it just a perception?

The older models had a bit more wheel well space cause they came with stock fourteens. The new models, most of them come with stock fifteen steelies. Other than that, the wheel well space on the new model looks bigger to me

Good advice from everyone.

I have 17s on my 4x2 toyota hilux and i dont have any problems with bad roads or any load in the tray.

using 235-55 r17 tyres. ride is still good. just ensure that whichever tyres u use has a rim protector.

Ray_STRA_man see pics of the OEM Toyota 17s below.... These pics don't do justice to the rims.
