diagnose a boost leak?

Postby kevinsonny » June 24th, 2012, 11:58 pm

hey guys recently changed my zd30 turbo and realize that whenever running the van for a long stretch the turbo timer accelerates too much , i gave the van a run from curepe to chagaunas rpm between 2500-3000 and the turbo timer clocked 5 mins on auto at the finish . with the older turbo it use to clock 2 mins max. whats the cause of this? i tried resetting the time and still the same problem , the van runs a little bit slower than the original turbo though. so guys any input to my situation?

did you replace with an OEM turbo?
reconnected the cooling lines?

could be.
Also are you using the spring type hose clamps? If so convert them to screw type.
Have some one rev the engine and you can check for leakages due to the compression.

wrt the timer... it has a sensing unit on/near the turbo right?

change the spring type, generally after the first use and removal they dont hold as well on the old, hardened hoses.
