Hey Tuners,

I've got a small problem with my Nissan Frontier. I have the 4x2 YD25 engine, the 4x4 look alike.

For the 1st start in the morning I switch to ON and stay there for about 15 seconds before starting.
Is this lenght of time normal, because I've been told that i should be able to start right away, with no trouble. However if i do that, it takes about 4 tumbles before starting.

I have a new maintainence free rocket battery only 4 months old, so i'm sure its not the battery.

Anyone has any ideas, or advice?

Check the glow-plugs and see if they're burnt out.
How many miles on the engine now?

I'm doing 184,000km.

At 184, 000km, the engine may need to completely rebuild. Sometimes it could be the rings "backfiring" inside the engine. Not all the time its the glow plugs or fuel pumps thats the prob.

Do a complete engine diagnostic first. Check Jerrys Auto Parts in Chase Village after the chicken depot on the left (if heading south) by the triangle.
