ZD30 BELT CHANGE

Postby SNIPER 3000 » June 16th, 2012, 4:26 pm

Fellas,
I would like to change the drive belt on My ZD30 engine (frontier 4x4).
Did anyone do this change?
Where did you get the belt? what brand did you use? It looks like one belt to me with some sort of tension system i have not come across before.

Lighthammer, sliders, I think Havoc has the same engine also. I look forward to your advise.
Thanks.

Hey, I did the belt change today. It is really easy, in all to remove and install the new belt it took not more than half hour. I did not expect it to be that easy and when I removed the belt I took it to a parts place and got a BRANDO replacement. Paid $145 for the belt.

You donot have to slacken any bolts and nuts. There is a welded 19mm nut on the tensioner.
1) Remove the stone shield under the van there is six 10mm bolts.
2) Using a 19mm close end offset spanner( because of the angle and space of the nut it is way easier) turn the welded nut clock wise while under the van so you will be turning to your right. The belt will drop off the drive pulley a bit, remove the belt.
3) Install the new belt, I left the alternator pulley for the last.
4) Go back under the van and turn the 19mm nut to the right again to release the tension.
5) Here is where you will need someone to place the belt on the alternator pulley. The women home at the time helped me there, it was that easy.

Thats it you are done.

I do not have a part number that was the original belt, it was still in good condition but the number was not there. I can check the nunber of the Brando if you want.
I have changed the fluids on the diffs. Next is the gear box.
The last owner took very good care of it so there is not much things to do. The suspension is still in good condition and there are no leaks at all in the van. It is now doing 107,000kms.

If you change the shocks let me know how it rides, if there is any big difference is comfort. Mines is stiff, i was told that is how the frontiers ride.

Would you be changing the clutch oil in your fan?
