How will our crap quality diesel come into play with this ECU modification?

it's not an ECU Mod, its just additional Maps from what I understand, all the factory sensors will work and all stock ecu limiters as well.. (boost, speed and knock) so it will go into limp mode if needed as usual.

As per our terrible diesel, I am also considering installing the additional Fuel Filter I posted a couple pages back, awaiting an estimate on cost and install from Sookhai's.

But I dont see it being a prob.. lots of guys in Aus and Malaysai are using em without issue.

It also runs on a switch so you can switch between the F-Con D and stock Maps. Guess we'll see in a few weeks when it gets here.

Good stuff, but curious to know how our cetane rating compares to that found in Aus and Malaysia.
Shipping from Nengun might be killer though. I remember checking them for a crapload of scooby stuff and it was hella expensive!

Caterpillar has a water/fuel separator for the 1kd-ftv. I called and they quoted a price of TT$800 with part being available within 5 days of placing order. For me I would go caterpillar any day plus its easier to purchase replacment filters here. I agree with bezman- almost every hilux/prado down under uses this setup with no problems to fuel pump.

Caterpillar filters are some of the best on the market, didn't know that they made one for the 1kd-ftv. I'd be interested in finding out how this would work.

@ rainman...my correction...dont think it was made specifically for the 1kd-ftv...however it has the same filtration properties as those water separators you see online in Australia. .if not better.
