4M40 flywheel...Now looking for an engine

Anybody know where i can source this? I tried in the bamboo and nobody seems to have or they not scrapping their engines. The engine is in a Mitsubushi Canter 1 1/2 ton pickup> Thanks.

Yes ladies and gentlemen, I am now looking for a complete engine (4m40) non turbo. The engine had a timing chain failure and it destroyed some of the major internals. I have been quoted a price from Bamboo Marketing for $25000 :shock:

can anybody direct me somewhere where the price is a lil easier on the pocket? Thanks.

Did you check Prabhu's Auto Parts? [just around the corner from Bamboo Mktg].
I had never seen so many 4M40s in one place but that was early last year.
BTW that price sounds about right :!:

Wayyssss...thanks fellars, Question, can the 4m40 out of the Pajero fit in the Canter? I was told that there are a few differences such as alternator position,compressor position etc...my thinking is since I have the destroyed engine with all the external parts, can i not transfer all the parts from the old one onto the new one and configure it to work in the Canter?

I don't see why not, but you should do a detailed comparison before buying the new Head and block.
Scrap the old one and take note of where and how the brackets bolt to the engine, different manifolds, pulleys for accesories etc.
Also check for things like the vacuum pump for the brakes[ is it built onto the engine or mounted to the alternator].

Well i know for sure that the vaccum pump is built onto the engine so i guess ill have to scrutinize the block properly. Thanks guys will update when get more info.

bear in my mind the 4m40 in pajeros are turbo charged and intercooled.

Right so a lil update... i purchased one from Prabhu's auto parts limited for $12500 with two weeks gurantee but the problem is now i'm stuck with a gearbox i cant use because i bought the engine with a gearbox as they were selling it as a complete setup. So now i have for sale a foreign used gearbox from a 2ton canter for sale if anyone interested lol.
