Used 4X4?

I'm checking out a used 2006 Ford Ranger this week. The use will be primarily work and back with a beach/Pricemart run in between. Any special things to look for when checking out a 4X4 other than oil leaks, obvious defects?

4wd engagement. The 2010 model had some issues with the electronics that engage of the 4 wheel drive in which the solenoid stick sometimes.

Check the brakes. I personally found the brakes to be a tad bit soft. Abs engage very fast on it.


Ensure the turbo is spooling properly and vehicle not smoking...
