NAVARA boost problems

Postby SkettellGod » June 13th, 2014, 1:21 am

Good day tuners,

I have a 4x4 MT navara.
I installed a boost gauge on it (no reason to, just had one lying around and decided to use it)
What I've realized is that sometimes the van works on the stock 20lbs boost, at other times the boost goes to 38lbs on hard acceleration and stays there until I back off the accelerator.

I've done a diagnostic on it and a faulty boost solenoid came up. I changed the solenoid and cleared the error code, but same thing.

Any idea as to why the boost is "running away"
What can be done to keep things as it was designed to work?

Your help is appreciated

Yes it is. And that's why I'm worried.

Don't even think 20psi sounds like stock, I would try a new guage or better yet, the location where ur sourcing from could cause those crazy readings!!!

Are you certain the boost gauge was connected properly and not interfering with the vacuum line layout?

I'm using an autometer phantom2 gauge. Boost only. No vacuum.
Will post pic later of gauge location.

Instillation was done on the intake side of the engine just before the "butterfly" on the throttle body.
