boost on diesel truck engines?

Postby turbo boost » September 26th, 2014, 6:55 am

does any one have an idea on how much boost do large turbo truck engines use,(nissan PE6T, PF6T, Mitsubishi 6D22T,6D15T. Good friend of mind is now doing a conversion on his isuzu dump truck from a 275 v8 to a turbo6 (6sd1TC). The engines boost pressure was originally controlled electronically, but we are doing it manual in his truck. Anyone with experience on these conversions hit me up some info. I know over boosting on gas engines have serious consequences. Diesels are a bit stronger but still want to run a safe and practical boost pressure.

No idea on PSI level but you can just plug the wastegate .You shouldnt have any problem.

our fear is over boosting the engine, so we want to put on an after market waste gate and set it to a limit.

The problem is not raising the boost but supplying it with more fuel.

More boost makes no sense without the fuel to match it

The man want to know what the safe working pressure is, that's all. He is not modifying for performance.

well i can tell you from experience here, plugging the wastegates in my past 2 PF6 Turbo and 6D15T Intercooler dump trucks have had no negative effects,of course pumps were advanced to supply more fuel as well. TC from charlieville would know exact boost pressure on those engines,i'll see if i can find out for you.

why the engine change from v8 to straight 6 turbo though?

well cost was a major factor,he got the 6 for 45k and v8s were being priced like 120k. Luckily for isuzu owners the 6SD1TC engine bolts right back on the v8 box. The v8 was putting out 275hp and the 6 being intercooled and all is rated @ 310.
