Toyota Hilux 3.0 4X4 2014 : HELP PLEASE

Postby ECIGTT » February 18th, 2015, 9:07 pm

Dear tuners,

Need some advise here. I bought my wife a Toyota Hilux 3.0 automatic 4X4 from the firm for valentines, Should however get it by next week. This is the first time owning a Toyota vehicle. I got a B15 and she has a Lancer CS3. Any advise in maintenance of this new van would be highly appreciated. This van will be used everyday on far drives.

It under warranty from the firm .... What advice exactly you want? Unless you plan to void your warranty by servicing outside of the firm

You read what I asked or just commenting for comment sake?
If new from the firm it has to be serviced there for warranty to be honoured.
I would believe if you can buy it new service prices can't be an issue

Actually I know some navara owners that are allowed to do oil changes outside by their personal mechanic and still keep their warranty intact.

Also op could bring his own oil and filter to save some $

It was bought directly from Toyota in south. I will have it serviced there, however i was reading some other post about the mileage where some tuners said that Toyota changes the oil filters every 10k and its not a good thing for the 3.0 engines. Other advise - any upgrades in regards to engine parts should be done? - special plugs, filters..

would really appreciate for info from Hilux owners.

you can always request the oil filters to be changed every service

while under warranty it's best not to upgrade anything internally without clearing it first with the firm....
such things like K&N air filter etc

There was a post on here with the disadvantages of k and n filters. It was being argued that they're less effective than oem and that the claimed power gains are bs. Googling will back this up so don't waste your $.

At the end of the day it's a Toyota so it shouldn't be too fragile.

i was told by the manger in south it can be serviced outside , but must be serviced by a recognised company if anything happens and records must be kept ( this is by word of mouth not written on paper so these guys can go back with what dey say )

Ask them to grease the u joints, change the filter along with the oil change. Ask them to show you how to drain the sedimentor/filter housing
Amsoil cetane boost is helpful
Please take time to read your manual
Beware the Bridgestone tyres if that's what you got. If you don't have a turbo timer...Let the vehicle idle for at least a minute after spirited driving. ..
A diesel has glow plugs. . Changing it doesn't improve performance
Take it kinda easy for at least the first 1000kms

X2 on the amsoil. I put a 2oz every gill up.
X2 with respect to Bridgestone tyres, the lose traction in the wet.

Also, get a turbo timer asap. You can get the ones that look oem, it fits into the space of one of the dash blanks.

The color is silver if silver is what you are referring to. I wanted the silky gold but all sold out so i settled with the silver.

The silver looks nice. I got mines in November and I got it with Michelin tyres. Didn't realize they come with different tyres.

I'm here to learn as well. I thought common rail Diesel engines didn't like Cetane?

I made a mistake. This is what I use.

I've never really used a cetane boost to know, but I don't see why it'd do any harm.

No you'll just waste more fuel because you don't have overdrive.
