International Competition for this Weekends race!!!

Postby LEEding-Edge28 » April 8th, 2010, 3:51 pm

24 year old Victor Pedrosa will be joining the battle against our local racers in the very competitive Rotax International class this Sunday April 11th. Born in Brazil, Pedrosa spent a number of years competing in the states and is well known as one of the big guns on any race weekend. Last year he went on to claim podium finishes in two different classes of the Florida Winter Tour which our local racing hero Ryan Garcia also competes in.

The news came in late that Pedrosa will be competing but there is already a buzz in the club. 2010 Rotax International championship leader Marcus Skinner gave us his thoughts. " I think it is a really great thing that foreign competitors are coming to race against us." said Marcus. "It gives us an opportunity to see what we can do against some international competition. Let us hope that this is the start of something good. Visiting racers show that we have something good going and I hope that the ministry of sport looks seriously at a proper dedicated race facility so we can host more talent from over seas."

Over the last few years the TTKA has managed to build the credibility of its "temporary" track at ARC. The overhaul consist of painted track lines, storage facilities for the barriers and cones, start lights, timing system, paved paddocks and air conditioned control tower for race officials. They have done everything possible with a small budget to provide the racers and spectators with a competitive yet safe environment. Despite their great efforts the track is still no where near international standards but a great time is still to be had at every race event.

Food and drinks are available at every race meet and adults are even welcome to walk with their own coolers as long as they stay in the designated spectator area which are covered by tents.

Racing kicks off at 12:00 Sunday April 11th. Race briefing will be held at the Ato Bolden Stadium 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 8th. The TTKA will also like to send a special thanks to its sponsors Red Line Synthetic Oil, Presidential Insurance, Mileage Mac and Redbull.

He will be racing in a 2009 Zanardi chassis powered by a Legree Motorsports 125cc Rotax engine. I spoke to Victor Pedrosa last night and he is here along with super tuner and fellow Brazilian Ricardo Legree. For those of you who are interested plenty of drivers will be on track practicing Saturday afternoon.
