Racing this Sunday!!!! TTKA Event #5

Postby LEEding-Edge28 » June 19th, 2010, 8:29 pm

The Trinidad and Tobago Karting Association is racing to the halfway point of the 2010 championship and wants you to come out and support your favorite drivers. The battles are only getting harder and harder as every lap passes and rivalries continue to intensify on track. Admission is only $20 for adults and free for kids 16 and under. There are covered bleachers for the fans and Ram's curry duck will be on sale too. Bring your coolers and get settled in to watch the best wheel to wheel racing in Trinidad!

Cadets
The Cadet class is the future of motor sports. Not just in TnT but around the world. It consists of drivers 8-12 years old. All fighting to be the fastest and all seemingly fearless. These kids are flat out on the track and currently leading the TTKA championship is 11 year old Nicholas Madan. He has taken his Club Towers sponsored kart to the top step on many occasions and won the Championship last year. His short but impressive history doesn't stop there. Last year he accepted an award in Mexico from the FIA and met all of the top dogs. At the last event he had an impressive duel that had all the spectators in aww in the 1st heat race but lost out to the #9 of Amir Mohammed in his AM Hardware/ AM Auto Supplies kart prepped and tuned by HN Racing. Mohammed, who is one of the more relaxed and matured 10 year olds that I have ever met, is a real animal behind the wheel. Luck hasn't always been on his side this year but he is still in a comfortable 2nd place and definitely has the speed to cross the finish line first. Making the balance between school work and racing is Tye Carrington and his Innovative Security Services kart. Despite not racing in all the events this year he is still in an impressive 3rd place overall. He is definitely one to watch out for when he is on track. Currently in 4th place is probably the biggest surprise of the year. He is the TTKA's youngest competitor, one of the the two rookies in the class and the son of a past national circuit racing champion, he is 8 year old sensation Enrique De Leon. Enrique, with the help of some much appreciated support from Castrol has managed to come to terms with racing karts rather quickly and already has a few podium finishes. He has got plenty of natural talent and with the right guidance and equipment you can expect to see this kid continuing his charge to the top. Finishing 2nd on the podium last event was #2 Jonmycal Sant and his La Havana sponsored machine. He is another racer who hasn't had the best luck this year but could never be counted out as he has just shown last race day. Continuing to improve every race is the other rookie Isa Deen. With support from Car Boutique the #190 kart has been consistent so far but needs a bit more track time to really find that edge to give him that boost.

100cc
After competing in the cadet class the young teens graduate to the 100cc class. This is one of the more fundamental categories because this is the stage that really tests a young driver both mentally and physically. This is also the age where they get their first taste of analyzing data, giving engine and chassis feedback and understanding how all the components work together to form a racing machine.
Currently leading the 2010 championship is last years defending champ and lone female competitor #74 Brigette Singh. Despite only racing in 3 of the 4 races so far, she has won every race in her Race Tech Engineering kart. In 2nd place and 3rd place is a pair of impressive rookies competing not only for the championship but also for rookie of the year. Car Boutique's #191 Saleem Deen has a slight edge over Shane Pinheiro's #29 sponsored by Trinituner and supported by Castrol. Johnathan McKenzie finally returned to his old form last race in the Rally Mac #99 and faces an uphill battle. He has the speed to get to the front but has to keep out of trouble. Rounding off the top five is the Innovative Security Services #175 of Che Carrington. He hasn't always had the right package this year but when he did he won the event overall at the 3rd meet of the year.

Rotax Masters

Rotax Masters is the class where grown men can laugh, play and feel like boys again. Don't let the small appearance of kart fool you. They are surprisingly highly sophisticated machines and all the drivers in this class are over 35 years of age (sorry for letting out the secret fellas). All the drivers get along very well with each other and there is plenty of "Ole Talk" amongst them. Leading the championship at the moment is Innovative Security Services #18 Gerard Carrington. Confident in his abilities he says "I will race in Rotax international for the final and show those young boys how to drive." That may sound a bit arrogant but he is the raining champ for the past 3 years running. Posing the biggest threat to Carrington's thrown is Fyzool Madan. He has been fast and consistent in the Club Towers #05 kart and always has a trick up his sleeve. Close behind is an intense battle for 3rd between #45 Clyde Supersad, Presidential Insurance's #40 Aslim Ali and the up and coming Martin Abraham in kart #4. If these guys could work together it would definitely help to close the gap to the leaders.
