let the family have a lawyer give them power of attorney so that they can do the transfer instead of their bed ridden relative. if they are not receptive to this, go visit wrightson road licence office and ask a senior officer for advice

If you have a write off vehicle which was never de-registered, and now I want to transfer the vehicle to some one. What is the procedure for this ? It is a T registered vehicle.
Do I still simply complete the transfer form ?
I believe the person is purchasing for the "rights" as well as parts.

Im a foreigner and have a foreign drivers license and not a trini one. However my foreign international drivers license is valid here.

Im about to buy a car and want to know if I need a trini drivers license to do the transfer on the certified copy. The post said you have to be registered with the transport division. How do you do this and does this require you to have a trini drivers license.

Ive had a car here before but I didnt do the transfer and I know I can get insurance for the vehicle under my name, so thats not a problem, but not sure if I can do the transfer of the vehicle.

Help please!

I need some info,

I'm buying a used car, but the car has two registered owners, a guy and his daughter. Problem is his daughter lives abroad...
Does his daughter have to be here in order to transfer the car or will a letter from her suffice?

a power of attorney or notaries public allowing the father to do the transfer for himself and her or nominating someone else to do it on her behalf

no, on licencing office records the guy you are buying the car from would have his name on the system. so he will be able to transfer it into your name.

just some advice, hand over your cheque after it has been transferred into your name, sometimes records are not updated or lost etc

anybody knows if a T vehicle has to pass inspection first before a transfer can be done?
I am hearing mix views.

I know Licensing give you 7 days to transfer or you pay a penalty. I don't believe inspection appointments are given within this period .

No. You do not need a valid inspection sticker on any vehicle to do a transfer.

^^ jus go into lics office, get the change form, which is a small yellow piece of paper *unless they change the colour* provide the invoice for the engine you bought and fill out the information.

Thats all.. not sure if its still $20 to do a change

Okay peeps hope you can help. Bought a car and the owner was not in the country to transfer. And as luck would set got into an accident cannot finish processing the claim at the insurance without the certified copy. Now the car doesn't look nice but it Is drivable. It's a PAY b12 so I know the total fees shud be less than 200. But what hassles to expect in terms of inspections and what not at licensing office... Seeing as the car has cosmetic damage

hi for those of you going to transfer a vehicle her is a link to the form you have to full out (Licensing -11)

http://mtr.gov.tt/home/sites/default/fi ... ership.pdf

i got it from tt connect.
also as if it has not been said before here is the process

Applicants must submit the following documents to the Licensing office Port of Spain, or San Fernando or Tobago:

1. Complete transfer form (Licensing -11)
2. Both parties to produce two (2) form of ID each eg (Drivers Permit/Electronic ID Card/Passport)
3. Insurance or Cover Note in Buyer's/new owner's Name

just as heads up people, i went to the port of Spain branch today and there is a sign saying cashier closes at 12.00 and the office closes at 1:00pm. i was told that it will remain so for the rest of the year.
