ISUZU Sailor

Postby tizik 2nr » September 25th, 2007, 11:25 am

So I know most people agree that the new D-Max is a really good vehicle, but its much to pricey for me (as are most of the new pick-ups)

I'm thinking about buying a new Isuzu Sailor, so I'd like to hear the Tuners thoughts on it.

M. Rampersad in south has it on sale right now for $110K brand new, and fully loaded.

Its a bit smaller than the D-Max, 4-door, 2.8 Diesel (non-turbo), 5FWD, plush interior with wood grain etc, bed liner, 15" mags, fog lights, central locking, and it cocmes with a fire-extinguisher and a tool box. The colours are nice too.

The sale ends on the 28th of September, and the non-sale price is $122K.

So tell me: Good buy???

it's not an isuzu.

it's a great wall sailor, with an isuzu engine.

the engine is isuzu and the front end is a nissan. not too sure about other body and mechanical parts.

Rory Phoulorie,

I bought it and I real happy with it so far. The van running real good, no problems.

I guess time will tell if it was truly a good buy or not....

Sailor verdict

I guess by now that you might know. I have had mine for over 1 1/2 years and have had the following issues. 1. the windscreen wiperspeed control failed. Agent replacing under warranty. 2. A/C speed control switch failed. Agent replaced under warranty. Otherwise, Great Wall has a great pickup here. Can't beat it for the $$. The newer Wingle is also great stuff. Will wait for automatic and turbo for next purchase.

Had it for four years, from 2007 to 2011, t worked real good, no problems for a long time, never had to change out any major parts, no rust, and I was happy with the performance. (Well, except maybe for the engine noise.

Then a hose buss on me on the highway, the temperature gauge didn't didn't go up and I mash up the engine.... :(

After that it was all to hell...

I put in a Nissan TD27 turbo, but the mech did a shite job, buss price and it never really worked well after that. Plus he gave it back in such a state I thought I'd never get it clean again, Grease all inside, upholstery is cream, so that was real pressure.

A few months later I buss a skate on Sando bypass in heavy rain and run into a Tercel and push that into a 626. The wife had had enough of it by then so I sold the wreck and buy a Wingroad.

Still miss having a van tho, and that one was good for what I could afford at the time....

Ah well, cest la vie...
