SQ competition promotional drive

Postby SR » June 13th, 2010, 10:14 pm

Gentlemen

We have discussed the issues raised coming out of your meetings and have prepared a standard proposal for anyone wanting to hold a small scale sq event be it a shop owner or private individual. As indicated i am of the strong belief that the only way forward with building the sq sport back up is by these small scale events and education of the public.
Keep in mind that IASCA Caribbean is a non profit organisation and the lack of revenue generated from membership and sale of official IASCA test discs etc has limited the spending power on what we can do for everyone while at the same time we continue the train and educate our judges as well as maintain our yearly affiliation fees.

Small scale SQ events will be targeted towards shops/dealers/distributors of car audio equipment in this country and we shall engage communication with all authorised distributers/ dealers .

Cost to host an event $250TT
Cost to compete
Member Non Member
SQ $80 $120
Install $80 $120
RTA/Spl $20 $20 This will only be available to those wishing to compete for best of show and must have competed in both SQ and Install at the event

Only IASCA score sheets will be used for any event requiring an IASCA judge conducting competition

Iasca Caribbean will award certificates for placement in the top 3 .These certificates will have the competitor’s name, placement and score as well as the Host/event name and date

Iasca Caribbean will also be running a pts system on a yearly basis to determine overall championship winners in each class which is open to both members and non members and is automatic
1st place 10 pts
2nd place 9 pts
3rd place 8 pts
4th place 7 pts
5th place 6 pts
6th place 5 pts
7th place 4 pts
8th place 3 pts
9th place 2 pts
10th place onwards 1 pt

Details regarding requirements for the event will vary based on location
A covered area protecting from the environment is required as well as a reliable source of electrical power and a table and 2 chairs for scoring
Further details can be discussed by contacting me directly

Training
It is strongly recommended that competitors are aware of the rules and regulations of sq competitions and its classes as well as in detail on what the judge looks for when scoring a vehicle
We are willing to conduct training at a suitable venue of the ice club’s choice for its members and cost will be $50 per attendee duration is approximately 4 hrs. Rules are available for download for free from IASCA’s website.
Training will clear up a lot of misconceptions especially with regards to install and upgrade pts as discrepancies have been mentioned in the past.

With regards to the pt raised on Intimidation from veteran competitors on discouragement of newcomers, training will help assist newcomers in becoming more competitive but Iasca Caribbean has no control over veteran competitors in where they choose to complete as long as they meet with requirements of the category and the choice would be up to the competitor if they think it affects the building of the sport.

Once again I thank you for bringing the issues raised to our attention and hope we can work together to bring SQ back to where it should be in this country.

Director IASCA Caribbean

If a competitor would like to compete in sound only, then why not also be allowed to compete in rta/spl?

Won't that be a good way of promoting this recently reinstated category?

that has since been changed

RTA/SPL shootout is open to anyone and consists of only 1 class
best of show however must have won all 3 categories

Good, a few more competitors are interested in doing RTA/SPL and Sound only.

You may be able to win the RTA/SPL shoot out with SPL only.
