Is that the TAX/TAY series one? is $22k a good price for a TAY 4x4 4dr with gas 2Y engine i think? it need a flash paint job, body ok.

Good price since these are the original workhorse. Oem engine is 4y.

I am about to put a 3" front 1.5" Suspension lift kit in my Hilux.
I've done allot of reading up on the kits and think the spacer kit will work for me. It comes with a diff lowering kit to keep the CV's level and I am getting bump stop spacers to avoid breaking shocks.. Anyone have any experience with them?? I see a few local rangers and hilux's using them, but would like some opinions.

Any D4D owners ever got their oil strainer/screen in inspected? looking for a reputable place to get this checked out. Not experiencing any problems just for preventative maintenance. Also I never ran my tank below quarter since i got the hilux which is going on 4 years should i get it cleaned? where?

well rangers cant use spacer lifts cuz they have are torsion bars in the front ... but TBH i won't really use a spacer kit if u have any intention on off roading it hard cuz it isn't safe at all and like you mentioned you can easily break shocks/cv's ... rule of thumb is tho for every inch u increase in height u raise the bump stop the same, so in ur case 3 inch bump stop spacers.... should be ok cuz ur getting a diff drop as well

now i never been in one that uses them but i do hear that you keep the comfortable ride which is great! cuz i have the ironman lift and it is harsshhh and sometimes i wish i just went with a body lift instead...or a better suspension lift than ironman

^^ arb shocks and springs give a MUCH better ride than Ironman - had a chance to compare the two and the ARB was so much smoother, and soaked up road bumps and potholes like NOTHING!

yup i know BUT the only thing is that arb is a lot more expensive AND the springs tend to sag quite fast......
i personally wish i went and bought an ULTIMATE suspension kit or even one from the states and adapt to suit .... oh well i have to live with a ride that irritates the sheit out of me until its time to change shocks/springs.....i might even go back to stock :|:|:|:| or maybe not

When I first drove the truck home, it definitely felt a little taller. The averaging is a bit different cuz you can see everything now! So it takes a little while to adjust to the new height.

Ride is the same as before, since I havent done the suspension yet.
At least now I can fit up to 32" tyres without any hassle!

The problem with the fuel treatments is that the stuff that is being removed from the fuel after its already in your tank/fuel system is just that...its already in your syatem & has to go somewhere.
It either goes thru the system & is traped by the filter/sedimenter (without fuel treatments or minor limited use of them) or the treatments to separate the water & contaminents in the fuel tank itself...creating sludge/fat & water build up in the tank (causing problems by being sucked thru the system when you fuel is low).

The best thing to do, is to use the cleanest fuel you could get (in our case...Deisel from Unipet stations), fill up early in the morning (to avoid as much water via condensation in the fuel), install a good marine grade prefilter/water seperator (with a glass bowl so u could monitor it ^ drain it easily) and change your filters as needed.

That way sediment doesn't reach the injectors/fuel pump & the water by pass is reduced.

From there, a full fuel system flush/cleaning every 5 years or so, would also be beneficial.

I had the same problem trying to go up the S bend (hairpin bend) after the Hilton coming up...

I attribute this wheelspin and sliding to the fact that no rain fell for so long and the surface was greasy...

The Lady Young always slippery.
Fuel trucks used to pass over it spilling diesel & gas on the road (especially the steeper corners) on a regular basis. that's y the corners are the worst. if you wanna see how bad it is, pass over on a motorcycle on a dry day....you still lose traction on the corners.
I don't think they've stopped them from passing there yet though...because the newly paved "S" bend close to Hilton slippery already.

I find they tend to foul the Maf sensor on my hilux



I got my K&N air filter from the place upstairs "Snikla" (sorry, cant remember their name) on lower French street, between Ariapita Ave & Wrightson Road.
I running it for about 3 years now with no issues on my 2.5L 2006 Hilux. Just clean it as necessary & You'll be fine

Make sure its the correct K&N filter. there are a few models that are close but don't seal the same way.
If its not seated properly, contaminants will get by & dirty the sensor.
The guys upstairs Snikla on French street have the correct one. you could pass & check them.
They'll take a look & advise u.

I used the shell (previously from Toyota), Mobil1 Delvac, Castrol & presently Redline Synthetics throughout...personally found no difference between any them. Just make sure to use the Manufacturer specified rating oils.

I've lifted my front 3 1/2" with the shock spacer.
Have the drop diff kit on its way.
Don't like the spacer blocks for the rear assembly...too much work and it slightly changes the angle that the diff meets the diff pumpkin. I'm opting for the extended shackles.

Ride quality hasn't changed after suspension lift...still great.
The only thing is that if you go over a speed-bump with any speed u hear the Upper Control Arm knock the coil spring. So adjusting the lower bump stop is necessary to avoid that.

Also looking to order a pair of extended ball joints for the UCA to return it to factor positioning/aignment (saw them on a blog but havent sourced them as yet).

But all in all with just the 3 1/2'" front suspension lift, & ditching the front mud uards, I'm running on Sumitomo A/T 33x12.5x15 on 15x8 steelies :mrgreen: (no body lift...yet :mrgreen: ). It running sweeeeet!
Loving the subtle roar (road noise) of the tires.
Will upgrade to 15x 10's after body lift and some other mods first

Check Kirk Pouchette (628-6411).
He's in Cocorite right b4 you go under the overpass.
Excellent work, great prices, very knowledgeable.
I've used him for quite some time...he never disappoints me.

I have a Hilux that just crossed 100km...what places are the best for doing a full service? (Changing timing belt etc)?....Any1 who has done said service plz share your experience.

From 2003 onwards timing belts are changed at 150 000km.

Besides oil and other filters, it's mostly fluids and grease up the drive shaft.

Yesterday I detected a clutch slip. I feel I've got a mth again before the entire engine must be pulled. Also got to replace my ac compressor. When the engine is out, I am gonna install my water to air intercooler system. So far I am just missing a bosch cobra water pump. They really expensive.

Got the clutch, pressure plate, pilot and release for LN167 at Toyota. (Everything was around 4500)
We're pulling it down tomorrow and changing it all out.

Should stop the periodic slip and knocking noise.

Will inspect for anything else off one time.
