I am the proud owner of a Pajero iO Montero (1999 model). When I first got my vehicle, it was in a real mess, even the 4x4 transmission was in the wrong position! It has only been about 7 months, but with a LOT of care, I have been able to slowly resolve most of my mechanical issues. I am just awaiting some parts and hopefully within the next 6 months I would have resolved all of them.

PT Auto in El Socorro Extension sells parts for the Pajero iO. If they dont have the part, they can always special order. Takes about 3 weeks, as opposed to 3 months through Diamond Motors.

Good place to get parts online for the Pajero iO. Got mine this week, all you need are the proper part numbers.

Changed two rear wheel bearings recently, used the toyo equivalent which was much cheaper than the firm's quoted price and they did not even have in stock. Presently i am trying to sort out a green flashing 4x4 light on panel..any ideas?

auto-novice, the flashing green lights are front or rear? It may be an indication that your 4x4 switches need to be reseated or may be faulty and need to be changed.

the flashing lights is the front..research i have done is suggesting it is a problem within the vacuum system..apparently the 4 wheel drive system is engaged and disengaged via vacuum pressure controlled by two sensors and a vacuum unit. My problem however is finding a mechanic that know their way around that system.

Good news. The site I posted higher up in this thread is legit. I have purchased two items so far and have had no trouble receiving them. Anybody have any idea where I can get a document to get part numbers from? The dealer is not being very helpful, even though they do not have my part in stock (nor are they going to restock it), and they want me to special order. Imagine I want to buy stabalizer bar bushings, which normally cost $60 each, but if I have to special order it will cost me closer to $500 for two...

Guys, sorted out the "flashing lights" on my Pajero, changed the Solenoid valves for the Front wheel and serviced the 4-wheel drive tranfer case.

Faiz Auto in Marabella for Pajero iO shocks, shock boot, fuel pump (in tank), fuel filter. They don't always have stock, but check with them periodically as they order every so often. Happy iO!

Fuel consumption is very good. The 4WD has a few issues, but centered around the solenoids and sensors. The continuing problem with the Pajero iO in Trinidad is parts. So there are really only three options I have found: Faiz Auto, PT Auto and online. These three options will ensure that you have your required part within 2 - 3 weeks maximum. Ordering parts from the local Mitsubishi dealer is usually very overpriced and takes 6 weeks - 3 months.

This pretty much means that if you have the failure of a critical part, the local dealer will not be able to alleviate your situation for at least a month and a half. On the flip side of all of this, the Pajero iO is an amazing machine. The sturdy chassis, power of the 1.8 under the hood, short wheel base and its unique look, make it quite a catch if you can find one in relatively good condition. If you're proactive with your maintenance and order parts in advance, the parts issues shouldn't really be an issue.

Had the pajero io for some time approx 5 years. The engine is the 4g94 type. I restored my engine and had some minor changes such shocks and radiator. Overall it is very reliable tuff and has a good little speed to it . The suspension is very stiff good for off road but ideal for our type of roads. Parts by Faiz in Marabella pt auto and dimond motors. Some of diamond motors prizes were ok. Laterz

I checked Faiz, Diamond and PT Auto...no front shocks for the iO. Anybody have any idea where I can get some front shocks? Doesn't have to be original, I don't mind the KYB.

Thanks madd, I eventually got the shocks from Faiz. bobovis, that sounds like a problem with your transmission. You should get it checked out before anything else.
