Stupid question time, reddo, why you went back to ct9? what was td04 doing that you weren't pleased about? reason I am asking is because I'm seeing a oil leak, I've yet to carry it to the mech to check it out but I suspect its coming from the ct9... so if the mechanic checks and same is true, then I may have to switch out and I understand ct9's are hard to come by.

I just got fed up of the lagging due to the transmission because I wanted a daily driver, once you r going TD04, change to gearbox as well to get the most out of the turbo. I haven't decided whether to monster the tercel yet so I'm sticking with the ct9 for now and also due to the fact that I'm on a tight budget.

like i said if u had gone with a TD04 with a smaller back end u would not have noticed any lag at 7psi...remember those other fellas who using it tuning for big boost oer 14psi so the waste-gate is closed longer. I have no boost controler so I adjusted my actuator an got 13psi at 3k. When the hose fell off I hit 20psi at the 4k. If u was only running 7psi you was missing out on what it could really do you should have run at least 9psi stock stock boost an re-tune for the increased airflow.

the high compression 5E drives off boost 1000-3000 RPM as well as the 4E did on boost in same Range with the CT9.....but once i floor it from a standstill BOOST!!! Limiterrrrrr slam in 2nd......tire chrips
I using back stock injectors for better economy. was surprised I could tune them to run better than the 460cc RX7 injectors with the AEM when running this small boost so they was over kill.

u gone back to smaller injectors an tune over the emanage?

I never changed my injectors, I used the same injectors - 315cc, I was gonna take Ryan's setup but someone grabbed it before I could. For now, I just wanna have the car running normal...

Re: My 5E-FTHE an a TD04HL-19T

Stupid me I broke my poor TD04H-13C.......

Could be fixed but I got this for a great price a deal to good to pass up so I going and try a slightly used almost new TD04HL-19T with a 8.5cm twin scroll back housing from a wrecked 2012 car.

So, to recap TD04HL turbine, and a 19T compressor. One of the biggest in the TD04 family only the 20T is bigger, ...anyway plenty big for 5E 1.5L I know but the rotating inertia was plenty improved for better boost response and improved durability by reducing the number of blades on the turbine wheel from 12 to 11. Its stock equipment on a 2L engine (compression ratio 9.5-1) where it can boost to 17.2 psi at 1,750 rpm an under ECU boost control taper to about 14 psi by 5,500 rpm

stay tuned

you'd be surprised how well the 5e gonna handle that turbo, she's gonna be a monster!!!!

don't worry yuhself, you guaranteed power with your setup, jus need a tuning, you can make a cool 220whp easy

I have more upgraded components to install now. Going to try the megasquirt stand alone ECU so dumping the AEM FIC piggyback. I have all these parts in a box ready to install.

WIll be ditching the dizzy and plug wires an upgrading to the Ford EDIS system. Just need to get the trigger wheel and sensor mounted.
I read somewhere that i could dump the EDIS coil pack and connect the EDIS module directly to direct COPs. I could try that out as well since I have some spare coil packs laying around.

Spare outputs I can use for stuff like ACIS activation where ever i want it to in the RPM range and maybe boost control using stock solenoids.

Found these pics on another site so you could get a idea of the work involved....

nice going on getting the megasquirt
i tried running a Coil on plug setup once with haltech but found the dizzy to work just as good
ive made 400whp+ on my 5efte easy using dizzy and stock wires.

toyota seems to have over engineered their engines after all lol

Yeah the stock ignition system is known to handle high power.

But being a mechanical part it prone to wear an tear. So one less thing to worry about.

As for me I just eager to get rid of a slight miss under any load ever sine I got this engine. Think it's the rotor in the dizzy just never bothered changing it.

little update.....I got it running

Finished the installation

Toyota ECU controls the tranny and fans.....will drive without ECU control it but it slams into gears

Megasuirt and EDIS running everything else.

I even installed a switch on the injectors wires which allows me to select original ECU for fuel control or the Megasquirt.

Megasquirt continues to run the Ignition timing both ways since the Toyota ECU is not connected to any spark plugs. It runs good.
