Restore black plastic trim

Postby VexXx Dogg » January 30th, 2014, 11:17 pm

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, dogs and cats - I'm looking for a product that can restore the black plastic trim on my van back to the original black.

It's gone a crappy shade of grey from UV damage, I suppose.

Getting some painting done, so I'd like to clean up the appearance of the truck a bit and grey plastic is a no-no.

Any firsthand experiences, with products locally available?

I had my painter paint the black strips on my car in black. Like yours, mine had become very dull and it really showed up when the body of the car was repainted. Just reinforcing cinco's point.

It'll cost nearly a grand extra for all the various trim, including the bumperette on the L200- and that's out of budget!
I'm sure I can get something for less or even a DIY.
Was looking at one of the dye options

Some may laugh but we have a laurel and the only thing that gets the bumpers/black plastic trim black to stay black without washing off too quickly is coconut oil. Obviously it depends on how bad its faded.

Yes it will collect dust initially but it will stay black longer than if using armorall/mothers etc

The only one that works a bit better is STP but its not too popular anymore

I like this Vexxx Dogg. I watched the vid. Seems like a very good, solid product. Even better if it really does last 4-5 years as the man said.

I did that for my old 910 too, but never liked the actual finish.
