El Nino is expected to form and cause a less active hurricane season in 2014 due to increased upper level wind shear which prevents hurricanes from developing and and/or storms becoming stronger.

I may be wrong but when storms develop quickly and gain strength in the Atlantic they tend to head north and away from T&T, however if they remain weak they may come our way as tropical depressions and tropical waves which over the past few years are what caused the majority of flooding and damage in T&T. So we still need to be vigilant and prepared.
