Minions is now the #1 animated movie of all time in T&T

The new record is based on the opening weekend results. MINIONS beat DESPICABLE ME 2 & MADAGASCAR 3 which were the previous top two animation films in the Trinidad Territory. These amounts are in local currency TT dollars:

ANIMATION - All time biggest gross box office in T&T

#1 MINONS made TT$1,286,182 in the opening weekend and is set to exceed the previous movies in the lifetime of showing in local cinemas.

#2 DESPICABLE ME 2 made TT$1,139,605 in the opening weekend and TT$4,338,946 in it's lifetime showing at local cinemas.

#3 MADAGASCAR 3 made TT$1,142,685 in the opening weekend and TT$4,240,671 in it's lifetime showing at local cinemas.

We expect MINIONS will also surpass the lifetime results of these other two films in short order. MINONS actually increased 1% in the second Wednesday of release compared to the opening day. This is very rare and ultimately based on excellent advertising and word of mouth.

Yup.......and I contributed. It was overhyped with promising trailers, the story line failed though, at the end people were like "that's it????"

Guess they didn't tell anyone about that cause ticket sales increased 1% in the second Wednesday of release compared to the opening day.

Some of us have children bai. I wanted to bep thru Minions(having never seen any Despicable Me movie didn't help), but my offspring enjoyed it. So that's what mattered.

Actually the thread isn't paid for. It was posted by choice since we ran ads heavily for the Minions movie and the movie scored big in the local box office with the highest ever opening weekend for an animated film. Our ads work.

The Minions banner ads and popups were paid for and we do run ads on the site to pay our bills and keep the site running.

We prefer to offer the site for free to users and offer advertisers to pay, and they gladly do. It has kept this site running for the past 15 years and it still is one of the most, if not the most, visited local sites in T&T.

So I'm not sure who you think we "sold out" to. If you think we've sold out to advertisers so we can keep the site free for users, then yes, I guess we have.
