Yes people it is 100% true. Trinidad’s very own John ‘Penti’ Powell will drive for M-SPORT Team Ford at Rally de Espana on November 8-11, 2012. John received the invitation last week from them, and it was officially published this morning on http://www.fia.com (check the news releases to the right hand side of the page – or click http://www.fia.com/en-GB/mediacentre/pr … s-esp.aspx).

Flying the T&T flag high, John “Penti” Powell has won Rally Trinidad 2012. After a 3 day battle mostly with Sean Gill of Barbados, Gary Gregg and Jeff Panton from Jamaica, John managed to climb his way to the top in his S14 WRC Impreza. Gill was leading most of the rally over the 3 days, however a tragic roll on Bronte in his WRC SX-4 cost Gill the entire rally.

On a rain soaked day, Paul Bourne managed to take top honors in last weekends “Sun and Stars” rally in Barbados. Driving his 2007 Ford Focus WRC he beat a field comprising of 5 world rally cars. This field included T&T’s John ‘Penti’ Powell in his brand new Subaru Impreza s14 WRC machine.

John “Penti” Powell who recently took delivery of a new Subaru Impreza S14 WRC, flew in the car to Barbados for its first ever rally, taking place on the island this weekend. The Subaru Impreza S14 WRC, which is the first in the Caribbean, was given a shakedown at the Vaucluse race park alongside Barbados’ very own Roger “The Sheriff” Skeete in his Subaru Impreza S12 WRC.
